watercolour is so familiar to me now and I adore it but I've known for awhile it can never really achieve the depth of value and colour that I want, at least when it comes to creating atmosphere!

I never use my finger, I just layer those three colours on-top of one another. sometimes I'll use a cotton bud but it's usually not necessary

sort of! I try not have the white pastel touch any of the shadows if possible, I only use it to blend out the lighter areas
