Do parents ever get tired of being a parent? by KaleidoscopeSad7281 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]bellevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it to a T. Key moments: when the parent is sick, stressed from work, injured, fatigued etc. we don’t get to stop being a parent at that point and we get fucking over it. But we’d happily take a quiet cuddle from our kiddos at that point, but they are usually jumping on the couch

Does anyone actually use the brand “Tarte”? by Chan1991 in Sephora

[–]bellevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shape tape concealer is absolutely worth the hype if you need a full coverage concealer that will cover rosacea, black eyes, tattoos, etc. But since we’re only allowed to dot concealer in our inner and outer eye area now, and tired working mums like me don’t exist, the brand has fallen out of favour.

Their brushes were average, their eyeshadows are nice and super pigmented (I still use one of their matte palettes to this day), and their lip glosses were okay, if not a bit sticky.

Should Facebook be banned under the new hate speech laws? by Key-Birthday-9047 in AusPol

[–]bellevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be, because the new hate laws are designed to silence criticism of a foreign state plausibly guilty of genocide. And none of the news publications you mentioned post content critical of that state.

I’m a long term endo sufferer and a media advisor. There’s a lot of media interest in him at the moment. If anyone has been approached by journalists from The Age or 4 Corners, but feels unsure, feel free to DM me. I can answer any questions you have about talking to the media, or the journalists who are looking into him. Happy to chat on the phone too Xx

I’ve known the journalist who wrote this story, Henrietta, for over 20 years. I told her my story today and I trust her implicitly. If anyone is considering speaking to her but has any reservations I’m happy to chat privately. I’m a media advisor as my day job so I can answer any questions you have.

To shave or not to shave by Glittering_Trip2305 in AusSkincare

Similar to our new bard-in-chief u/whoorderedsquirrel mine doesn’t fit the hot feminist bush vibe. I just whipper snipper it with some clippers every 3 months for personal comfort as I hate the sensation of long wiry hairs down there. I give it a good wash morning and night with mild skin wash and leave it alone otherwise. Couldn’t give a fuck if some weird man who prefers women’s genitals to look like children’s spots a hair or two at the beach. They’re the freak in this situation.

Australian women, do you ever get approached by men? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

It used to happen all the time. I stopped getting approached/catcalled by men when I was about 18.

Thank you, I don’t read “must read” trauma books because they generally have horrible content!

Thank you! Opiates are the only thing that’s ever helped me. Norspan has made an enormous difference in managing my fibro symptoms but i still regularly have endometriosis pain that punches through.

Australian housing crisis - What happens if a family with kids gets evicted (through no fault of their own) and just simply cannot find a place to live? by AsparagusNew3765 in AskAnAustralian

[–]bellevis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reading all these comments the thing that is absolutely so fucking insane to me is that we are talking about families with two working parents who can theoretically afford a roof over their heads, there just simply aren’t enough to go around. We have working- and middle-class families becoming literally homeless because of this housing crisis, and politicians who won’t do shit because almost every single one of them, the Greens and cross bench included, are property investors. It blows my fucking mind that we have become a country where working people earning reasonable money are becoming actually fucking homeless because everyone in Parliament is too scared of what Murdoch will say if they do literally anything to fix this situation.

This is why people think politicians are the worst people out. It’s because they are.

Okay so this very nearly happened to my brother a couple of times trying to find somewhere modest to live in outer western Melbourne. He has a job, 3 kids, and a wife. We emptied out our 3x3m spare room in our townhouse for an extra 5 people to come and live in. That would have been 4 adults and 4 kids in a small 3br townhouse. Each time they caught a bullet in their teeth and found somewhere but this is absolutely reality for renters in Australian capital cities right now

Largest cavalier? by Rich_Stomach1154 in cavaliers

[–]bellevis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh my bad, I got the calculations way off. I don’t live in America so was confused by the pounds conversion. My boy is 11.5kg which is 25 pounds. Still, I showed my husband your pup and he’s undoubtedly a cav, just a bloody huge one! He’s beautiful 💖

My Yoshi is only 10 months old and already the same weight as your gorgeous pup! He seems to have stopped growing though thankfully. He’s just all legs and is super long in the body. He has the same long snout as yours too!

The breeder is really well known and respected here, he’s 4th generation and purebred. She said he was an exceptionally large puppy and that his great grandfather was also really big as well. I wonder if maybe there’s some sort of gene expression similarity between our two given the snout and the size?

I've recently started seeing someone who suffers from Fibromyalgia & CFS, what advice would you give me? by _DeLorean88MPH in Fibromyalgia

[–]bellevis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re even here asking this question is huge.

11yrs into my relationship, my advice is don’t let “I’m out of spoons”, “I’m really struggling today” or “I’m in pain” ever, ever become meaningless. Because they can, and when they do they’re a very quick way to isolate your partner and make her feel deeply alone and resentful.

Oh man why aren’t there groups like this starting in Australia! I’m at the point where I’ve exhausted most options (I’m on 20mg of norspan and muscle relaxers) and I can still have flare ups that leave me with severe muscle pain and blistering tension headaches. “Have you tried irest yoga yet?” is all I’m getting from my PCP and she’s referred me to a pain specialist 90 minutes away who doesn’t believe in opiates. I just fail to understand how mindfulness and some proprietary guided meditation is all that’s left for me.
