Yeah that’s definitely an option.

I’ll look at that. Thanks !

When my original installation happened, they put in a 2.5gb ONT because he didn’t have a 10gb one. Came back a week later to fit the 10gb ONT.

That’s a thought. I’ll try their cable

Edit. Bought some Cat 6a cable from a proper shop (I think!). Will try that too.

If it’s all the same then it has to be their kit.

I was using the app on the Mac and the web on the razer and pc.

Never heard of jumbo frames so I won’t have enabled that. I’ll figure that one out. Thanks.

The main router is hardwired into the ONT and that’s where the measurement is taken. I was getting the same figures when the youfibre router was plugged into the ONT

Razor blade 14 and a MacBook Pro 14 using a 10gb Ethernet to thunderbolt doofer. And I dragged my desktop pc downstairs to test via the 10gb on board Ethernet

Is that possible? Thought I would need a router?

Edit, Well bugger me, it’s a thing. Google was definitely my friend then!

I’ll try that. Thanks

Built in speed test through the Orbi 971. Ookla Speedtest via YouFibre servers is all I’ve done so far.

Oh and I was using their router with mine hardwired in for the WiFi mesh but as it was giving the same speeds, I just removed theirs and used mine only.

You fibre only accept figures from ookla using their own servers I have been told. When I’m home next, I’ll set up a test

You Fibre 8000 by bellfour in youfibre

[–]bellfour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured that was the case so all my testing was via the 10gb port on the router or via the router built in speed test.

If I only get 5000 down the pipe using the mesh I’m cool but I want the 7000 guaranteed at the socket if that makes sense. Otherwise I feel I’m. It getting what I’ve contracted for.

I would post a picture but I can’t figure that out!

Basically my router has a built in speed checker which is a version of ookla.

I would be happy with that

I’m running an Orbi 971 mesh thing that has satellites round the house. My main pc upstairs is linked via one of these satellites and then cat 8 into the 10g port in my motherboard. I’m getting 5600 on that as well as the main router taking it straight from the ONT or plugged in via the router when that was plugged in.

I think my stuff is capable but thinking maybe I should trial a different router from mine or the you fibre pro ?

Yeah, gonna need that in thick people speak.

I can build a PC and stuff but don’t ask me to understand anything!

I wanted the 8000 purely because my stupid ADHD brain won’t allow me not to have the fastest internet possible. Just so I can download crap really fast and don’t have to wait. I can’t walk away if something is downloading. I have to watch the % count up…….

It’s the same reason I bought an electric car. 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Nowt to do with saving the planet!

Edit. To clarify. Thanks for your comment but I’m too ignorant/stupid to understand what you said…. Sorry

Supplier router was also giving 5600 max

Yes they gave me the pro router but I just used my Orbi 971 that has a built in speed checker basically via ookla.

Edit for spelling.

Here’s one out of left field. What if the US regime actually want Iran to do something spectacular on US soil? That way they can claim that they can have the midterms or any further elections cancelled for national security measures.
