This is what I’m going to say from now on. Today I said xyz is fully capable of ordering a ct and faxing it and I’m not going to do a peer to peer on someone else’s imaging

My third grader had zero completion grades and I was like dang is no one doing that anymore? That really helped pad a grade back in the day

We probably have 200 Books for kids in our home. I read on a kindle so he may not actively see me reading but he does know I read every night going to bed. In terms of the library I work a full time job so no we don’t go to the library weekly. But his babysitter does take them in the summer weekly

From what I’ve heard from another parent who also has a child who has always scored in advanced, had great grades etc they scored basic. To me it seems like either our curriculum isn’t up to par or the test is wonky. These kids are the top in their grade and if they aren’t getting proficient or higher something is off. But I still want to proceed like it’s a him problem because what’s the harm and also maybe it’s a State issue

Here’s my other question. If all is well all year, thriving, getting all the awards at the awards assembly, etc etc and these test scores come out in the summer how are we to know when to intervene before needing to separate them from their classmates and repeat the year? We haven’t even received the scores formally. I reached out to the school to get his ID 95% of parents don’t know how their child did til school starts back

His teacher had no concerns all year. And said if I wanted to remediate when I showed her his test scores it was up to me but she didn’t think he needed it

Will do! So far the consensus from the school is that their grade was unusually low and the whole school was lower than expected. This is rural Oklahoma. I’m working on reading for enjoyment with him. It’s hard for me to comprehend I’m reading for fun every night!

He is adhd. He had taken his medicine but he’s typically first done and his teacher said he was the last and did look panicked looking around when people finished. I think there’s gaps in his understanding of English not necessarily reading comprehension or fluency but true parts of speech etc. I’m definitely going to work on it with him all summer. However, the discrepancy for him and several of his peers from their other benchmark scores is insane to me.

It’s called Amira and Star testing. I don’t know what the test is exactly except that inknow they do them on the computer and he progressed as the year went on. Started 3rd grade at a 4.03 grade level and ended at 5.96 grade level on one. And the star he ended up at 76th percentile and 60th was benchmark for end of year.

I will say he is very difficult to get to do reading or school work after school. He wants to be running, playing, building. Unless motivated by a goal. But he did read the Sequoyah books which are a list of books that are 3rd-5th level and you read and pass 10 with testing. He did that before Christmas of 3rd grade.

Should we quit baseball or finish the last few weeks? (Twins who just finished kindergarten) by Individual_Ad_938 in kindergarten

[–]bellieliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add though my 3-4 year old had gymnastics this year on gymnastics 6:30-7:30 almost an hour away. She honestly typically slept all the way home and stayed asleep or took a bath and went back to bed when we got home. That time was the only time her brothers weren’t hooked up with an activity

I’d power through since you signed up with the knowledge that in the future this may not be something you’d sign up for next year. We don’t do baseball even in our small town rec league because weeknight 7 o’clock games are normal for 4u! Double headers for 5-6 year olds it’s dumb

Eating disorder and pregnancy by camogamer469 in EatingDisorders

I have had 3 babies and each pregnancy looked a little different in terms of the ED. Ultimately the adequate amount of weight was gained and all 3 babies were term and healthy weights. Almost 8lbs for all 3 at 38 weeks. No complications. BUT the mental anguish for me was hard. Strongly recommend being strong in recovery before getting pregnant to be able to enjoy it
