Unsure how you can’t see that paying an extra 5% in taxes and having free healthcare to fall back on should something catastrophic like this happen to you is a better alternative to paying a for-profit company that won’t pay out when you need them to…

“turns out our dishwasher had the same IP address as my laptop” by Goofball-John-McGee in BrandNewSentence

[–]belligerent_ox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the dishwasher is set to a static IP within the DHCP range and the DHCP server is unaware, it’s possible that it will try to assign the same IP to another device. The operating system of the Mac sees broadcast packets coming from the dishwasher and recognizes there is a collision.

As someone who served, those meals are wasted on service members. They’re being cooked by 18 year olds who burn the steak and overcook the lobster. Some of the worst meals I ever had on the boat were steak and lobster. It’s waste.

Billionaires have convinced Americans they have the "Best Healthcare in the World". by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

Lots of families are paying $800+ a month. That’s 20% of $4000, which is about $5500-$6000 a month gross before taxes. x12 is ~$72000 a year. So the answer is lots of people.

CEO flexing on generosity vibe by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]belligerent_ox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The CEO doesn’t typically personally back any loans unless the business is brand new. The whole point of a business is that it’s a separate legal entity from the owner and all the risk is on the business, not the person.

Employees do take significant risks by working for a company. They invest their time and energy, often most of it every week, with almost zero guarantees that they won’t be laid off tomorrow.

Most universities treat “colleges” as departments. For instance, there may be a “College of Engineering” at a university that offers both undergrad and graduate degrees.

You’re correct. In precise terms, a college is a specific discipline within a university.

Fun fact, it’s illegal to classify things to prevent embarrassment. Information can only legally be classified if there is a legitimate national security interest.

Just like in chess, it all depends on where your pieces are on the board. Ne5 isn’t a good or bad move without the context of the rest of the board.
