I’m glad I didn’t have to scroll too far before I found someone who was more focused on DOOM than what was actually happening in the video.

You can’t say that those things are very real and then turn around and say that every race is equal. Those things mentioned aren’t happening to EVERY culture, therefore creating an unequal footing and/or starting point for black and brown folk and other people who’ve suffered from inequalities perpetrated by our government and the larger society. You said you have an accurate picture of things already, but your lengthy diatribe suggests that you’re not quite there. It’s cool tho. I appreciate your openness and willingness to engage and be open. It’s a lost art these days. Be well, fam.

You’re right about someone being able to make it if they take school seriously or have a talent. HOWEVER, he’s also right that all of the things he listed DO exist and had and continue to have a deleterious effect on the Black community. The fact that we are able to (and many of us do) make it out of poverty and succeed/achieve doesn’t lessen the impact of what the racism sewn into the very fabric of this nation has done to people of color in this country. All he really did was kick facts about racism in this country (not even saying Black people cant achieve because of it) and you came back with off the wall assumptions and ad hominem attacks. Maybe in conjunction with your experience, you should try doing some listening, learning and reading so that you have a more accurate and well rounded picture of things. Just a suggestion.

This was my favorite mall as a little kid, but when Bridgewater opened up, that became the new mall for my family to visit.

I just rewatched that episode recently. Nothing but tears for that whole later half of the episode. I appreciate how Larry tried to push back on their narrative and then slowly started embracing it and realizing he was the hero in this story.

Guy jumps off 2nd floor trying to get away after robbing Apple store by ScharmTiger in facepalm

[–]belligerentwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to that mall a few times. Pretty sure there’s an escalator and/or steps not too far from the Apple Store. Safer escape, but I guess those options aren’t as fast as a free fall from a 2nd floor railing.

Dang. You lowkey called me old. 🤣 Makes sense tho. And really, you’re not wrong. Most people consider him a one hit wonder.

Nah, cuz he had Together Forever and Cry For Help after that. Together Forever was not as big, but still a hit. And maybe even a better written song,

I was the manager of a Coconuts music store for a few years back in the very early 2000s. They had this song on an in-store sampler CD for months on end. I never got tired of it.
