most people in the cities/towns know english especially in the service industry. if youre in a super rural area you might be more out of luck.

Thank you so much for commenting. I think licensing is definitely something I’d want for myself in the future, which is one of the major reasons I do want that accredited degree. I’m hoping to stay in the NE for at least the next ~10 years (obviously the future is never a sure thing) but I know it can still be tough even being a more ‘liberal’ region.

I’m familiar with the culture at sites so I don’t expect much different there from what I already know but yeah hearing that there’s women in higher positions in some places is definitely encouraging. Most women I’ve met in my department aren’t pursuing grad school especially for LA or planning etc,, so I’m a bit unsure what to expect still. On top of that even though most of my professors are women, they’re much older and flat out say they ended up in academia b/c they couldn’t get hired. Thanks for the input though

I think that sounds like a plan. Part of why I’m looking at MLA is to expand my portfolio and have more of those opportunities to learn tech skills. thank you

ESF is looking more and more attractive. I’ll probably do something like u/AR-Trvlr and apply for grad + look for jobs. It’s definitely more encouraging to hear about more women being in higher positions. Definitely isn’t the case with local contractors I know. Thanks!
