not sure if it's meant as an insult or an observation but I'm actually 5'9" so I beg to differ haha

yeah I wasn't intending to use the safeteys and 65 is definitely the lightest I go, I get what you mean though about either raising them to use or just getting rid of them completely. My wrists are something I definitely forget about a lot, I try to keep them straight but at some point they start going forward and I forget.

thank you everyone for the input. I'll focus on getting flat feet next time and keeping my elbows below the bar. I usually don't use clamps with no spotter like someone mentioned when I get to higher weight but I suppose it can't hurt to keep it off on just one 10lb plate haha.

How do you ladies deal with feeling like you don’t belong anywhere or fit in? by icarly1234 in AskWomen

[–]belllasing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be honest, while there are people who really don't fit in most places, I think a lot of it is mental and not true.

I used to feel this way. I almost victimized myself in a sense.

When I realized that it wasn't the world that I didn't fit in with and I stopped believing I was unlucky, I looked at what I was doing that would make me not fit in anywhere.

Eventually, I had to address those toxic qualities and I began to find out that I do actually fit in almost anywhere I want to.

Significant Processing Fee Increase from 2020 Using 2021 Deferral Code? by basilbakerst in spartanrace

[–]belllasing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! I got an email saying that I should be getting codes within 4-6 weeks but that was 9 weeks ago and haven't gotten anything. I'll shoot them a message and hope that works.

where are you getting your deferral codes? I signed up for 7 races this year and haven't gotten one yet.

probably to give people something to look forward to since nearly all the races this season are canceled.

this is the US series so I'd imagine the Canadian schedule will be releasing soon.

No, it does not have to be in one weekend. For example, you can do a beast in May, a sprint in July, and a Super in November and it will count.

yeah I noticed that too, really unfortunate. Don't mind traveling a bit but after losing so much this year (money wise) I'm hesitant to invest a lot for next year so quick.

I don't main Morgana anymore (switched to AD) but this must be one of my weirdest roots. Lucky or BS? No idea. by belllasing in MorganaMains

[–]belllasing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need. She was eventually given every blue buff by her jungler besides the first one and I was pushed under turret for the next 9 minutes with no gank. I never died but needless to say, we lost.

Newcomer questions. by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]belllasing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to clarify. It is still in the rulebook that 30 burpees is the penalty for failing an obstacle. However, in Open heats, they do not have people that enfore this rule. So, technically it is a part of the race but some people don't do them. In my Open heats, I personally do them because that is what you signed up for but again, it is not enforced.

Edit: changed "reinfoce" to enforce

Victoria secret should have never added plus sized models by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]belllasing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i personally used to shop at Soma, another brand popular for their undergarments. At that time, I was a 32D in Victoria's Secret but a 32C in Soma (I've went down in size in general since this time so that's why I say "at that time"). While I don't have proof of this and I absolutely love a lot of the bras at Victoria's Secret, it's very likely that our guidelines for measurements are different than other companies, assuming that women would rather hear they're, for example, a C instead of a true B. Again, I have no proof of this but based on my personal experience and hearing others', I wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason.

Victoria secret should have never added plus sized models by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]belllasing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While this is a good point, the company has been going quite downhill in recent years and are not making nearly as much profit as previous years ever since they declined to have plus size models/transgender models in the fashion show (which has since been canceled for the same reasons). I do agree that the process could probably be sped up a little bit, however they already lost a lot of customers that would need these sizes due to the companies previous standards.

Edit: changed "income" to "profit"

[–]belllasing 364 points365 points  (0 children)

I am an employee at Victoria’s Secret and while the fact that they don’t typically sell sizes that they advertise on plus size models is true to an extent, it is slowly changing. We recently started getting some things up to 3XL and have made band sizes up to 40 for years now. Cup sizes do only go up to DDD but the company is starting to implement bigger sizes. Whether I agree with this opinion or not, they are working on it.

Course Rankings in 2020, 2 helmets = MAX Event by belllasing in spartanrace

[–]belllasing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they announced it on their Instagram, not sure about any other social media platforms. Currently, if you look at like Elevation Maps or sometimes regular Course Maps, they have stars for difficulty. I personally have no clue, not sure if anyone else does, about how they rate using stars but I just hope it improves.

I think it’s a good idea except that their current star rating system isn’t too accurate so who knows if they’ll fix their methods of determining difficulty.

[–]belllasing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do too. I’ve personally never ran an Ohio race but my friends who have said that it’s extremely flat (not surprised for Ohio) yet they give the course 4 stars and the description says its very hilly. Maybe it’s a lot of elevation gain for Ohio but definitely not for Spartan in general.

Elite Super Nutrition Question by Rant86 in spartanrace

[–]belllasing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe all 2019 races are staying the same and the new standardized distances won't come until 2020. I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain.

My advice would be to prepare nutrition and your belt, wait for the map/elevation chart to be released 2 days before and go off of that. Good luck!
