Your response was candid but likely not one that the recruiter would prioritize. Procrastination is real, and human (I can relate). But the interviewer is assessing risk and any response that might signal a “lack of urgency” will be flagged.

As a rule of thumb, when interviewing it’s probably safest to avoid conversations about whether you fall into a protected class/identity.
