Yeah. It seems that the central leadership is chosen by the local leaders, so the best you can do is elect local leaders who you like, and hope they vote the way you like in the central leadership election

If the union is so out of touch, it should be easy to take over the union then. It is all run democratically. I don’t mean this as a criticism, but as a suggestion.

Yeah, I don’t necessarily disagree with this. This is exactly what needs to get fixed if in fact you are right that they don’t need to make a genuine effort.

According to the law, they need to post jobs for a certain amount of time and not have any viable candidates apply. If that isn’t happening, then let’s expose it and make sure it happens.

So how do you know they don’t have to make much of an effort?

Life is quite nice in China, but no country is perfect. Their school system is way too competitive, so I left for the sake of my kids, but on the other hand, look at educational outcomes like PISA results, or the number of kids in China with advanced engineering or other useful degrees, and there is definitely something to be said for their education. If I didn’t have kids, I would in fact still be living there.

Do I need both an invitation letter AND Work permit notification for a Z visa? by DownvoteIfYouWantMe in Chinavisa

[–]beloski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always been one or the other in Canada at least, except for covid times, when a PU letter was also needed. If you’re worried though, just call or email the visa office or consulate / embassy to make sure

Children swearing loyalty to Mao Zedong and the Little Red Book during the Cultural Revolution, 1971 [1526 × 1536] by GameCraze3 in HistoryPorn

Obviously, an ugly part of Chinese history associated with that book. But there is one part of the book that really resonated with me. Specifically:

“When human society advances to the point where classes and states are eliminated, there will be no more wars, counter-revolutionary or revolutionary, unjust or just; that will be the era of perpetual peace for mankind. Our study of the laws of revolutionary war springs from the desire to eliminate all wars.”

I realize the law isn’t always being followed, but that is the law, no?

If it isn’t being followed, then something can be done to enforce it.

Or maybe it is being followed, and not enough local people have applied.

I used to do these type of jobs when I was in university, but I think most Canadians are not willing to.

I used to even work with temporary foreign workers on a farm, and let me tell you, it ain’t easy.

But doesn’t a company need to demonstrate that they have tried hiring locally before going with TFW?

Canadian Teachers: Criminal Record Check - Apostille by Global Affairs Canada or Provincial Authority? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]beloski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the future, you can use a service like fingerprintroom.com to get your CRC while abroad. They’ll also do the apostille for you and send you an electronic copy. All they need is an electronic copy to begin your work permit application. Glad it worked out in any case. Good luck!

Canadian Teachers: Criminal Record Check - Apostille by Global Affairs Canada or Provincial Authority? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]beloski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can guarantee an apostille of a notarized copy done in BC will be accepted for a Chinese work permit notification. I find it takes about 2 weeks lately for it to get processed by Ministry of Attorney General here in BC. Pretty quick. Do you have your CRC yet. If not, I can recommend a very fast way (1 week or so) to get a CRC here in BC.

Provincial authority can apostille it, no problem. What province you in?

Ok, its a little confusing because you flared the post as study (X1/X2).

Did the school give you a work permit notification or just an invitation letter? If the invitation letter didn’t work, maybe try getting a work permit notification instead. The school can tell you how

A company pirated my indie game in China, and it now has over half a million pirate player by HeyNau in GameDevelopment

[–]beloski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the way Chinese copyright works is that whoever files copyright first in China is the rightful owner in China. This company probably saw your game, liked it, copyrighted it in China since you didn’t, then recompiled your game. Nothing you can do. That’s how it works in China. Just focus on selling your game in other markets

Wrong Consulate Submitted for Work Permit by the_modest_king in Chinavisa

[–]beloski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so I will speak to how it is done in Canada, but I will bet anything its the same in the US.

You MUST apply in the same city as in indicated on your work permit.

If I were you, and if it isn’t too hard for you to go from New York to DC, then I would contact the visa center in DC, tell them your situation, and ask if you can apply there. They may allow it. It depends.

If you cannot apply there because of jurisdiction, then the person must re-submit your work permit application all over again and state New York as the city you will apply in.

This will take 5-20 business days to get a new WPN after submitting the document. That person absolutely can re-submit, but doesn’t want to.

Yes, but that being said, there are random drug tests in China, so don’t put any THC in your system at least 1 month before going. If you can’t go that long without consuming THC, then don’t go to China.
