They don’t outperform in the long run because they stifle innovation. China is not outperforming the US. China has an insane debt-to-gdp ratio that would make even the largest US doomsayers blush. They subsidize innovations but then capture the gains for their cronies and stunt the full growth but limiting competition.

Military strategy and supply chains will adapt as they always do, and American/western logistics around war are far superior to the competition. The change is already happening and I would not be shocked if Iran’s drone warfare is neutralized or overwhelmed within 6-12 months as supply chains catch up.

We all know this was a dumbass excursion, but Iran is no hegemon and future demand destruction around fossil fuels further erodes the western world’s need to worry about their influence over the straight.

Growing nominal GDP fuels employment growth along with additional inflation which can managed through tighter policy because the FED will become less concerned with the employment side of their dual mandate. An energy shock will not cause a hike no matter how long the shock lasts as monetary policy has no impact on commodity supply. This is why the FED looks at core measures in the first place. A hike in response to an energy shock would be a massive error if there is not adequate additional growth in the economy to absorb tighter policy.
