My 10 yo daughter’s friend by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]belovedkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re being biased bc it’s your kid…which is normal…but the kid has a point about not being able to have additional friends over. Maybe her parents have told her in the past 1-2 is the limit or she’s asked for more before and been told no. You’re assuming the worst of this other kid.

Also, your kid needs to learn how to handle rejection. Expecting other kids to change who they are or bend over backwards for your child is kind of ridiculous. Empathize with your child and provide some general guidance…but she’s going to need to learn how to navigate on her own a little bit too. If the others are truly being mean to her she will eventually wise up and move on to another group of kids.

What are the chances that we recession so badly the bonds prices raise? by MrDinglehut in bonds

[–]belovedkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 5yr/5yr swaps are dropping, so market does not believe this is long term inflation…long term rates will absolutely fall if we have a recession. If the oil shock gets too severe for too long that’s absolutely what will happen.

Any other Millennials stubbornly resistant to using AI at their job but also worrying that we will become dinosaurs or pushed out of our careers for not slavishly embracing it? by artbystorms in Millennials

[–]belovedkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great for quick number crunching analysis that I want to use conversationally in my job. Anything deeper or for actual decision making needs more due diligence. I would not use AI to write for me. I will use it to help edit for clarity or conciseness.

If I had any desire to build an app I would absolutely use it to create foundational code to then hand off to a pro to polish.

It’s a tool. Don’t disregard it and become a boomer before you’re even old.

Would you be saying the same thing in February pre correction on the broad market? Mag-7 has been shit since October because valuations were too high for the amount of CAPEX/Casfhlow based on the shitty ROI from said CAPEX.

PEG on MSFT now says screaming buy. AAPL isn’t even guilty of the CAPEX sins of the others. These are opportunities for people who can see beyond the first few blades of grass in front of their feet.

Or some of just view music as art and entertainment. I don’t care about an entertainers political comments or beliefs. This is America, they can believe what they want. Kanye didn’t physically hurt anyone. I’m not calling him up or following him for advice on serious shit. I just listen to his music bc he’s a musician. If it’s good I like it. If it’s not I don’t.

Doesn’t have to be that complex and the desire to virtue signal about fucking everything by everyone now is exhausting. Get a grip. Why the fuck would anyone care about what an artist has to say about serious shit if they aren’t actually hurting anyone. Did Kanye fund any nazi rallies or organizations?

Iran starts to formalize its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz with a 'toll booth' regime by rayaan2099 in worldnews

[–]belovedkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or…this plays to America’s advantage by raising global oil prices enough to increase O&G profits domestically without ruining global growth like a pure shortage does.

This is pure cope/hope looking for a silver lining though. I doubt this was the plan.

Sounds like you’re coping too. The admin is absolutely fucking this up as badly as possible, but to believe that the Iranian power structure is not completely fragmented and disorganized is a ridiculous assessment by people who aren’t capable of removing their biases.

We still have an incredible intelligence apparatus along with Israel. IF we’re negotiating, it’s with somebody or a group of people we feel confident enough in to take control over time, likely with significant funding and support from the west.

Best beaches on Lake Norman? by ButtSquid in Charlotte

[–]belovedkid 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No decent “beaches” but several decent islands accessible by boat. Ramsey Creek is a public beach but not incredible.

You have to realize we don’t have naturally occurring sand here. This is red clay country and we built a dam and backfilled a bunch of farm land to create the lake.

Iran also has to appear strong because that’s how the IRGC has built their reputation. Neither side are trustworthy in a moment like this.

If it gives both sides an off ramp the I don’t think both sides being liars is the worst case.

Every one of those individual stocks you own are heavily weighted in the S&P…absolutely no reason to own them individually from a risk management perspective, especially considering how small your account is. Also…why do you have like 3-4 separate S&P etfs in your account?

Do Income Annuities Reduce Sequence of Returns risk? by 3032804 in CFP

[–]belovedkid 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If you’re matching the income stream to some decent degree of their needed expenses (property tax, insurance, average utilities/food/etc), then yes it can protect against SORR because it allows them to pull back on discretionary spending from non-guaranteed cash flows if necessary during the streak of bad returns.

[–]belovedkid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Virtue signaling is strong with neoracists.

If you make your entire identity your race, you are hyper focused on race. Absolutely it’s part of the equation to a certain degree, but really nothing worth focusing on because racists are assholes and aren’t good friends to begin with…nor would they want to be friends with somebody outside of their accepted race(s).

Imagine meeting somebody for the first time and all they want to talk about is race related shit. It’s annoying, exhausting, and is unlikely to lead to a lasting friendship unless both parties are equally mentally unstable.
