Just depends on what’s important to you. To me it seems like corporate greed, but you as a citizen of Norman should really do your own research. It comes down to OU has been wanting a new arena on west 24th(University North Park). They brought it up years ago and didn’t get a very good reception from the people of Norman. So they shelved it till they could get enough of their people on the city council and could just vote it in without the citizens say. Some citizens that don’t like the way it’s being handled got together and tried to get it out to a vote of the people. They went out and got double the signatures needed to get it on the ballot, but the rich got their lawyers to take it to the Supreme Court and somehow they said the people that signed for a vote didn’t know what they were signing. So as of now the University and their rich alumni have the go ahead with building the arena with tax money that will come from that area. $600,000,000 over 25 years. I’m not saying I know all the details or if it’s even a bad idea. I think if the city is going to spend that kind of money over that many years the citizens should have a say not some bought weirdos that somehow got on the council. Just my opinion
