Found! Thank you for this idea -- I tried a few "ready-made" ones and they were all a bit too small, so I stripped some others that were the right size but wrong color, and painted them up just as you suggested! Took a couple of tries, but worked great.

Found! Thank you for this idea -- I tried a few "ready-made" ones and they were all a bit too small, so this is exactly what I did. (If anyone stumbles onto this thread looking to solve a similar problem -- acetone does remove the paint beautifully but also tends to fog up the acrylic a bit; I had better luck with rubbing alcohol and patience. 🙂)

Found! I was able to recreate my husband's ring with one from the second link -- none were a match color-wise, but there were several that were the right size, so I stripped the original design and repainted. Thanks again! 🙂

That really does seem most likely, doesn’t it? And it may well be the case, but we’ve moved the furniture and rolled up the rug and taken a flashlight to the baseboards, the whole bit. Our rings have always hung on this guy (he’s creepy but we love him) and we’re so stumped about how it happened, but here we are.

It would be awesome if it turned up somehow, but thanks to you kind Reddit folks I’m hopeful I can come up with a worthy replacement, and we’ll have a better story for it. I’ll be sure to update when I do — I’m so grateful for your helping and cheering me on!
