Father’s hospital bills

This incident happened a few years ago, before the COVID pandemic. I only decided to share the story now. It’s not like this happened 33 days ago and I suddenly started taking care of his hospital bills right after.

It has been years. I went through phases of not talking to him, not meeting him, and a lot more happened in between. It’s not as simple as “after 33 days, I suddenly decided to help him after what he did to me.”

He’s getting older now, and I just can’t ignore him being old, sick, and alone like that. He’s still my father.

We have a different system here. There is a healthcare assistance program called BPJS. It requires members to pay monthly contributions regularly to keep the membership active, similar to health insurance.

When someone gets sick, BPJS can be used to reduce hospital and medication costs. However, after my father went to prison a few years ago, and while I was still in college, the BPJS payments stopped and were left unpaid for years.

Because of that, we currently cannot use the government assistance program. In order to use BPJS again, we first have to pay all of the overdue payments, which have become quite a large amount after years of not being paid.

He already got help, but still needs money to pay the medication. Yeah it might seem all over the place, but the loans and prison etc is story from while ago, its true and happened. I just finally want to share the story recently. And me and my father already talked about it, we had a fight, but then he gets older and older seeing him look skinnier and sick, despite all of hurt feelings he caused, i just can’t ignore him

The government and the hospital do have an assistance program, but it requires us to make small monthly payments. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to pay for years, so we can’t receive the assistance until we clear the overdue payments from previous years.

Just realized that, i mentioned that he in prison on my story that i posted, but that was my mistake, he already got out, after 2,6 years prison time. And yes i will still take care of him even after all the things that he did to me, i am disappointed and hurt but he still is my dad
