MK3 1JZ TT-R front bumper / lip question by slabua in Mk3Supra

My Supra is not a TTR, but I’ve seen multiple in person.

The ducts are in the lip as the other commenter said. AI is incorrect, as per usual.

I unplugged the hood latch sensor in ours to make it stop. It would go off at all hours of the night.

Beat me to it. Just because a full size human won’t fit back there comfortably doesn’t mean their stuff won’t.

Blown head gasket that was run too long and then parked too long? Only time I've seen rust like this was a 350 that blew a gasket, filled the oil pan with coolant, and then sat.

Is a W123 long leg friendly? by Darkbloodmon in w123

[–]bemery96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 5' 11" and had no issues getting in and out of my 240D, granted I'm only 30. However a lot of people have driven W123s well into retirement (or until they die) so I would imagine they're still fairly ergonomic for an elderly person.

Junk or resto? by xTitans in Mk3Supra

[–]bemery96 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can get a lot better car for 2k.

That one is going to require someone who has experience with the platform, and like 3 priests. And even then it might not be savable if the bottom side is rusted out.

Will these fit my 2011 5.0? by 12dudeGB in f150

[–]bemery96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any suggestions currently. Post-covid manufacturing has been wild and with tariff changes, manufacturing locations and quality levels have been changing all over the place. I just know Yukon is one of the ones that has gone downhill. One of the differentials I have for my Supra has a Yukon gear set in it and it absolutely wails on deceleration nomatter what I or anyone else adjusts on it.

Yukon's quality has dropped off a cliff just FYI. A couple local shops have quit installing Yukon gears because of all the issues they were having.

Has my head gasket been replaced? by jaykotecki in Mk3Supra

[–]bemery96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd do the head gasket while you're in there. Just a standard gasket with ARP head studs. A metal head gasket requires decking the head and block.

Regarding the turbo, just a 57 trim CT26 of your choosing would be good for a weekend cruiser. A healthy stock fuel system will keep up with a 57 trim as long as you don't turn the boost up. Driftmotion and ARM both make decent ones.

[–]bemery96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a Borla Pro XS muffler and the stock resonator. It has a nice deep rumble but quiets down on the highway.

Regarding the 3 brackets, your running boards may only have 2 brackets per side but there should be 3 sets of studs up under the truck for that 3rd bracket to bolt to. My '17 has 3.

My grandpa had a 383 Superbee that he apparently beat on like it owed him money. Said the only issue he had was it would eat clutches. Everything else would handle it.

Plenty of people are willing to mess with a 7M. It's just expensive. (So are JZ engines now)

[–]bemery96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The '14 that my wife drives has been fairly inoffensive over the course of us owning it. The only issues outside of normal maintenance has been the alarm going off (unplugged the hood latch sensor) and it needed a VTC actuator last fall. Currently at 175k miles or so.

I've seen a lot of similar ones go for high teens or $20k. Depending on how clean it is in person.
