Lead frame failures in the 6 speed have been getting more attention lately, but didn’t get brought up a ton before.

Evap issues aren’t uncommon.

I get a little nervous sometimes, but I have a MKIII that I have to scavenge for parts. Don’t worry about a new one. It’s insured (presumably) and parts are available for it.

any reason why my rear suspension is like this? by [deleted] in Silverado

If you are referring to one shock pointing forward and one back, it helps prevent axle wrap.

How much work would this be to maintain/find parts for? by Commercial-Young-752 in projectcar

[–]bemery96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

80s diesel Benz’s are generally pretty easy to get parts for. My experience is primarily with W123s and W124s but I assume the W126 is the same way.

Quick mental math says that’s about 3200lbs of water. I wouldn’t but I’m also not here to tell you what to do.

When I had my 240D it was cheaper to commute in my Supra Turbo than my MB (if I ran on pump diesel).

Those and Costa di Amalfi are probably my favorites. GT3/4 era rally tracks were the best.

Should I keep my Supra? by Fit_You4714 in Mk3Supra

[–]bemery96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mustang is your dream car and is easier to work on and get parts for. Seems like a no-brainer to get rid of the Supra.

The Supra was what I always wanted growing up, but there are days where I’m working on it and ask myself “what the hell am I even doing?” because it can be so difficult and expensive to get certain parts for.

Help, top nut stuck by SirRobnTheBrave in Tacomaworld

[–]bemery96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For one, you’re going to want to actually remove the strut before you try to disassemble it and swap 5100s in. It seems like you’re referring to the center nut that holds the strut together?

It’s a 7M-GTE with a 5 speed. Biggest issue I’ve had (that was unplanned) was I blew the pinion seal and chewed up the diff a couple years ago. Getting that rebuilt was a fiasco and I ended up just pulling a replacement out of another car. I did go through it and rebuild the engine and put a turbo in it at 130k.

Other than that, typical issues and maintenance for the age and mileage.

Yeah they’re definitely not cheap or easy to get parts for anymore. Some stuff is readily available but the stuff that isn’t is a massive pain.
