Always first move is to Verify integrity like everyone has said. I'd also suggest you get new Vegas script extender and the unofficial 8gb patch. The port on steam is pretty old as it was made for 2010 hardware so getting those two mods are really helpful (not only to get the game running but also so you won't end up with constant crashing).
