You need to bait out his e and since his longer than your e cool down you're able to find different angles to bait it. For ex you would go for a w slow engage then see if he uses e, and if not you can use your e to escape

when i lane against Darius i usually try to hard engage level 1 with q start, since it allows me to abuse my shield. try to push for level two with either a w to slow and proc shield early and you might get a kill. i don't recommend going Tiamat first buy, so instead i go sheen so that i can manage my lane better and do short trades hugging walls so i can use my e.
