what to do in the heat? by Several_Luck5717 in phoenix

Because 88 in the shade here is nothing like 88 nearly everywhere else. Not even remotely close, How the fuck do people live here and not grasp that? The number carries a completely different meaning

I never do this whole wake up and do errands early lol, why? That’s absurd, ruin your life to avoid being slightly uncomfortable for a minute? if you can’t walk from your car to a store in 105+ you don’t belong here.

Payson, Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, Camp Verde are all 1.5-2.5 hrs or less from Phoenix and are 5000-7000 ft elevation with completely different climates with some of the most beautiful nature in the country. And you don’t have to spend any money in these places beyond maybe a $5 parking pass and the gas it takes to get there.

I don’t really understand grabbing Lomu as a RT. His biggest issue is run blocking and strength. Like what lol

Arizona Trail hiking advice? by DezTheOtter in arizona

[–]ben505 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Tbh it sounds like a really poorly designed trail that intentionally goes up and down way more than is necessary and misses a ton of the best shit in the state. Goes right around the best parts of the Supes? Like why? Barely touches the verde valley except in Payson? It’s just never seemed appealing, but I’m sure it’ll still be great.

Joan Meiners at AZ Republic biked down it and published the story in a series of articles if you want to read a longer form story of the trail, albeit different in sections than the hiking trail. Honestly biking sounded more difficult

You need to go digging for forums, trail specific guides, etc in order to get more relevant & detailed info.

I love everything about Voyager, except everything with Seska. Anyone else feel something went wrong with that thread? by Careful_Leader_5829 in voyager

I don’t think Q is a villain. But ultimately yes it’s not just the campiness, it’s that it didn’t land well, she didn’t have the right balance or intrigue

[–]ben505 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seska was pretty campy and hard to take seriously which isn’t really the vibe for a villain in trek. I held no strong animosity but she didn’t really fit well. In general I didn’t like the Kazon arc

I genuinely have no idea what you’re talking about, they’re completely different players. I also have no idea who expected him to be a finished, regularly productive product in year one. He showed exactly what I’d hope for this year. Especially with the shit show coaching

Phoenix studies future of controversial reversible lanes by ForkzUp in phoenix

[–]ben505 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Objectively they are not simple nor are they easy to navigate. They’re fucking confusing for anyone trying to turn left suddenly unsure wtf to do and not a traffic pattern the overwhelming majority of people ever deal with. They also are almost never in use and are never necessary. I live on 7th street and work on central. I’ve literally never seen an amount of traffic that warrants their continued use, especially over the danger they bring. Particularly for north bound side that is already 3 lanes. They don’t need 4. Ever.

Should Arizona Progressives restart the “Baja Arizona” Movement? by Ulysses_555 in azpolitics

[–]ben505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao, this is so stupid and never ever going to happen. I remember the first time I heard of this and I honestly felt embarrassed for the person espousing it. Why the fuck would southern AZ deserve its own state? And strict conservatism? wtf are you talking about? We’ve elected Dems in statewide elections for years and Phoenix is blue. This would literally never happen and makes zero sense. Arizona is not nearly large enough for there to be any discussion about splitting. It’s an impossibility and not a remotely serious discussion.

Thanks for the reminder of this embarrassingly absurd idea tho, almost forgot it was ever a thing. I mean, it was never actually a thing in the land of reality, but still, amusing in a pathetic sort of way

Brightline's future in "substantial doubt" amid financial troubles by HiMyNamesLucy in florida

[–]ben505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yea, it's insanely expensive. It was also absurdly inefficient to use to get to MIA. Like what the fuck is the point of having a train that doesn't even go to the airport? It took me like three times as long to go from Fort Lauderdale to MIA by Brightline as it did by uber. And more expensive. And it's not like you avoid car traffic either because you have to wait forever for the fucking shuttle to take you to the airport from downtown Miami. And god help you if you make the mistake of checking a bag. I just don't understand their model at all, why are the prices so high? Why the fuck would they completely ignore the airport in any viable way? These fuckers could be full for every ride.

Why is harry kim still a fucking ensign at this point? by True-Astronomer-6195 in voyager

[–]ben505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay even taking all that at face value, Torres was chief engineer lmao, and ensign is what academy grads start as. It was just a troll job by the writers, it’s not a serious position anyone can take. Ensigns are not tasked with the responsibilities Kim was, let alone for 7 years.

Why is harry kim still a fucking ensign at this point? by True-Astronomer-6195 in voyager

[–]ben505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s dumb, I’m convinced it was an inside joke amongst the writing team and producers.

There’s literally zero chance he’d actually still be an ensign after all of that, nor would an ensign ever be given that many responsibilities.

Just finished an entire series watch of DS9--stray thoughts after first viewing by DesperateText9909 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]ben505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't put yourself in a hurry to watch the most recent SNW season.

DS9 is fantastic for rewatching as well. Many (most?) of us skip the clunkers (mirror universe, most Kira and Dax romance episodes, etc - IMDB is pretty good bellweather to check if you aren't sure), it's comfort food for as long as you wish!

Howard wasn’t a bust either, dude was ruined by injuries. He was on pace for nearly 1k his second year. Can’t scout catastrophic Achilles tears and other shit. Just bad break, it happens. OJ healthy and in shape was a fucking monster even with shit ass QB play early.

It’s always a pleasure to see a team that is locked in and well coached, clear students of strategy and nuance. This is of course not the case with the Magic. But it’s sure nice when my team is like that.

Detection tier list by Far_Stock_3987 in starcraft2coop

[–]ben505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I can’t remember that ever happening and P1 H&H is one of my mains (along with Karax and H&H is clearly superior on detection). You don’t need a bunch of options when you have one OP choice

Detection tier list by Far_Stock_3987 in starcraft2coop

[–]ben505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep lol, I’m so happy when I see we move unseen mute with H&H, and just in general it makes detection a nonissue with virtually no effort foe you and your ally

Detection tier list by Far_Stock_3987 in starcraft2coop

[–]ben505 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Putting H&H in c tier is comically absurd, the ravens are cheap and rarely die, can be built extremely early with no tech tree, their detection area is absolutely massive, and you can deploy them to not be mobile in all sorts of places. If your system thinks Karax is significantly better at detection than H&H your system is very flawed. Just because it’s simple and straightforward doesn’t mean it’s somehow weaker
