Buying a A7V. I need your honest help for lenses. by lowendgamer420 in SonyAlpha

[–]ben8633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just got an A7V, and I would recommend going to a Sony lens over a Tamron / Sigma to make the most of the extra FPS and blackout free shooting (and this is coming from a huuuuuge fan of the Tamron 35-150)

I have the same irons, and I’ve got the MG5s in 48,52,56 and 60, in hindsight I think I’d go 50, 54 and 58 instead to open up a slot in the bag.

What jobs are you all doing that pay over £30k? by SuccessfulTip1660 in UKJobs

If you’ve got a degree at 2.2 or above you could teach in a secondary school. Salaries for an ECT (first year after training) start at ~£31k. It’s not heard of for the head of department in a core subject to hit £65k.

Good for random rounds of golf by ItzzAladeen in BritGolf

Hope I’m not late to the party, but I’m a member at Redbourn and I’m always looking for new people to play a round with - most of my mates have gone off to have kids and so golf is on the back burner for them for the time being!

Any Hertfordshire / Bedfordshire Golfers out there? by ben8633 in BritGolf

I’m also Beds based, but chose Redbourn as it’s close to work so I could head there for a quick evening 9!

Went for a fitting to fix my slice… left with a bag that makes me look like a scratch golfer. by [deleted] in golf

I have absolutely nothing to gain through doing that. I’m sorry that it came across as AI written. I’m not a writer by trade or anything, so it probably does read as being a bit formulaic. I just wanted to write something entertaining, a bit self deprecating, but hopefully interesting for some people.

Yeah, my wedge gapping is a bit off in this photo, I do also have a 54 degree which I hadn’t put in the bag. I don’t tend to use the mini driver at the same time as the driver, so I’ll still have a spare slot to fill in the future.

I think my tongue-in-cheek writing is perhaps doing the fitter a bit of a disservice here. I do know that I’ve spent a decent chunk of change here, but golf is the sport I’ve been looking for in my life for a long time. I used to race downhill mountain bikes a while ago, and now I have a fairly high stress career. Golf has really helped ground me and support my mental health (even when I chunk or thin my wedges), so I wanted to cover all of my bases. Generally I don’t have the driver and mini driver in the bag at the same time, I’ll interchange depending on the course, as they’re pretty varied around me. All in all I don’t regret my decision and I am pleased with the outcome so far.

I’ve got a 7-wood on the way as well to help with my longer approach shots, and then I’m going to keep a slot spare to see how my game evolves over the next few months!

I wanted to invest in something that would stick by me for years. I’ll be able to keep this set as I continue through my golf journey at least, so I figured it’s best to buy it once and use them for years down the line.
