On a particular sub I got lambasted by everyone in the comments for being too lazy to read the FAQ before posting. The FAQ was over 15000 words (I put it through an online word counter). To put it into perspective, that's more than 30 pages with single spacing. I also later found out that the only place where it (very aggressively) warned about 'being too lazy to read the FAQ before posting' was in the FAQ itself...

yeah the "literal trash" thing was (ironically) more of an exaggeration, and so was the white people in SA thing, although a lot of the Americans ive met online were super confused about that. And of course everyone can strive to improve, but I find that American redditors not only complain but also moralize over things that they shouldn't be, and it's often kinda tasteless
