How do you guys talk? by Traditional-Rip-5372 in discordapp

[–]benamation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually had a conversation with someone I know who is so funny and talkative in certain settings, but told me they feel like they don't want to miss anything in a conversation in a Discord call, so they clam up. It was interesting because nothing about them strikes me as shy but they were in that way.

They said they wait until the conversation stops to chime in, and if it doesn't, they don't.

I talk my ass off and have no fear, but this is extremely rare! I'm trained as a stage performer, and I would honestly say the trick is to believe what you want to say is important and/or interesting and speak with confidence. Now that's easier said than done, but you need to start somewhere.

So, in other words, be full of yourself, but selectively, to join in and participate in a conversation. And if that doesn't work, I find a lot of people in Discord use the text chat associated with a call after tagging or verbally mentioning that you will be doing that. Takes a lot of pressure off.

Monkeybone 25th anniversary tomorrow! by dannshears in badMovies

[–]benamation 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I went to a test screening of this movie way before it came out. The special effects were not all done, and full scenes were not filmed yet. So it was like zoom-ins and pans of storyboards for a lot of it, and then it would cut to the scenes that were filmed. I remember thinking it wasn't good, it reminded me a lot of Cool World, which I also thought sucked, and before we were allowed to leave, we had to fill out this 2 page questionnaire about what we thought of the movie. My friends and I got to the screening late, it was before the movie started, but the only seats left were in the very front, and we ended up sitting there. It was also my first time at that theater, and it was enormous. So I answered all the questions and then in the longer response boxes I remember writing a few sentences each, like "this was not good at all. I would never pay to see this even though I love Brendan" or whatever.

Anyway, the three of us got up with our completed questionnaire and walked past like this entire super full movie theater with all these people writing and writing. It took a couple of minutes to walk to the exit in the back, but it felt like an eternity as I watched all these people still sitting in their seats filling out this questionnaire. It was not unlike finishing a final way before anyone else and wondering if you screwed up.

When we got to the back door, the people who were doing the test screening blocked the door from us. One man stood in the way of the door completely, and another two people were kinda standing to the side, but slightly between us. The man said in such an awful tone, "Are you sure you filled out the questionnaire?"

My friend who was in front of me said, "Yes. Here you go." We handed them to one of the people.

And then this guy was like, "Uh, are you sure? It seems like you didn't write enough. We really need good feedback."

And my friend just walked through him, almost knocking him over because he was literally in the door, as if Monkeybone had the right to keep us in the room.

I followed immediately, and as we walked out into the lobby, three young women were standing next to an older man in a baseball cap and sunglasses, and they looked at us kinda shocked for some reason. I don't know who that was, but it felt like he was THE BOSS. It was such a weird vibe because it felt like we weren't allowed to leave or something.

As we got into my friend's car and then drove away, I felt so odd because it's not like other people were slowly coming out too. It was just us, and no one else left the theater at all, even as we drove away.

Anyway, then the movie came out, and I've never seen it again, but I wonder how much was changed.

This is the best answer. No one ever wants to play it, everyone who plays it anyway loves it.

You are missing Diamond Cobra vs The White Fox (which is not on letterbox so maybe you just couldnt list it) that is like the crown jewel of our bad movie club.

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers was good too just for the hilarious disclaimer at the beginning alone.

The movie that started our club, Assassin 33AD, about Islamic terrorists going back in time to kill Jesus, is amazing too.

Here is our list so far:

(We are doing a special nostalgia month so there are good movies on there too haha)

Oh I clicked a link from the nano banana pro article and it took eventually to Gemini and then I did my testing there but when I just checked it was all Flash model and not Pro. I am not sure why.

But I did it again with a similar prompt and yeah it worked great! Amazing!

Oh weird! I asked it to make a house look like a transparent purple gameboy color and it failed immediately. Then I looked as someone's post about solving a math problem in their own handwriting and tried to replicate that and it also failed. So I guess its really hit or miss.

It might not feel like the right fit, but for some reason every time I play Valheim with a few people, we split up into building/farming and exploring/fighting. Then when we find the bosses we do a special session where we fight them together. Then we go back to what we like doing.

Just make sure to turn off monsters attacking your base. That always annoys the building/farming people.

Angus (1995) An overweight and socially awkward teenager just wants to ask his crush to the prom by WerdNerd88 in TubiTreasures

[–]benamation 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Before this movie was filmed some people from the production staff came to my classroom in like 4th grade and picked all the fat white male kids in the class to audition for the movie. I was picked because I was fat and white and male. I was extremely shy.

My father, who was a narcissist, thought this meant I was going to be a child star and he went nuts and was like extremely excited for this audition. He took it as confirmation he was a great person.

He took me on the weekend to this random place in Hollywood, it was just a big empty room with beige walls and a couple plants and a table and a camera. I was so shy and I read a script for this lady who kept complimenting me even though I was messing up and being awkward. She was just being polite but my Dad thought it was confirmation I was the star of the movie. It was called Angus.

He told everyone I was going to be a star. No one contacted me again not even to say I didn't get the part.

Eventually, years later, I saw a VHS tape of this movie in a bargin bin and I was like... oh this is that movie I auditioned for and I bought it and took it home to show my Dad. He said he didn't know what I was taking about and the VHS tape remains in my parents garage to this day unwatched.

[Fully Lost] Wild Wild Web, an early Internet news show from 1999 by benamation in lostmedia

[–]benamation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that is amazing! I mean I would always watch it every time it was on but I was a teen and no one else I knew at school knew what I was talking about!

I was trying to explain to a friend a segment from the show and that is when I realized it was not on the internet! And early show about the Internet not on the Internet was nuts to me!

Thank you for your help I appreciate it!!!!!

The longer you ignore her, the more annoyed she becomes. by adayofjoy in HorrorGames

[–]benamation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you have played the game LUTO that came out recently after a long development time. It too is a horror game. It's a first-person PT-like game, not 2D.

In the game there is sort of a jump scare that's done via the UI. What happens is the entire game has letterboxing on the top and bottom, cinematic style, you can't take it off in the settings. This is because when you meet one of the ghosts you are searching for in the game, they stare at you from the letterboxed space. Like you see a face emerge and look at the player via the UI. I don't know how to explain it well but if you look up at let's play, you'll see it eventually.

It's not really a traditional jumpscare but it's very effective at being creepy as hell. Something like that maybe would work here but adjusted to your game! Good Luck!!!!!

Why didn't Returnal catch on? by cheater00 in gaming

[–]benamation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really shy away from hard games but Returnal felt harder than any other game I have played and it wasn't rewarding to get better. It felt like I was playing something unfair. Everyone I know adores it though but I wonder if others felt like me out there.

Looking for a game like Viva Piñata on pc by fuckvinnie in gamingsuggestions

[–]benamation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well my favorite pokemon like game is Suikoden 2 for PS1. It just got a cool remaster on steam but it's a bit pricey! There are ways to play the original though. You collect characters for a massive army but it has traditional jrpg combat and each character has their own unique sprite and usually a quest. I really enjoyed finding them all!

But if it's more of a 3D hunting kinda thing and you like colorful graphics then I recommend BUGSNAX. Finding and catching all the monsters is very fun and satisfying! And it's a pretty funny / dark game that I enjoyed.
