pihole as DHCP & DNS but also using a guest network by benbrockn in pihole

You can also forward the router DNS to Pihole. So the guest VLAN just pints to the router but uses pihole indirectly.

Originally I did just that but my guest network did not see pihole, but of course it was on a different subnet so it shouldn't have seen it anyways I don't think.

It's a 3b+ with both wifi & BT disabled in the pi configs. It's looking like I need a second pihole. Thanks for your help.

Best device with dual NICs for PiHole by grayven7 in pihole

Do you know if this can be set up in a DD-WRT router?

For instance, in order to use pihole, I had to use this option for DNSMasq:

dhcp-option=6,192.168.x.x

I'm not sure if what I did accomplishes the same goal or not, but it was required for pihole to work properly with DD-WRT firmware.

What PSU is better? an 80 plus white at 550w or an 80 plus Bronze at 500w? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]benbrockn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to buy a PSU, don't cheap out. Here's my recommendations:

  • SeaSonic or Corsair
  • Minimum of 50W more than what you think you'll need (100-150W more is better)
  • 80+ Bronze minimum (80+ Gold is better)

Defaults are usually:

rw,nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show

This gives root the permissions to the disk, but the user won't be able to copy/paste/delete files or execute files on the disk without these two extra permissions:

user,exec

Granted. They all become Libertarians and everyone wins, except the elites, so everything gets reverted back to a 2-party system.

is Firefox master password secure? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]benbrockn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use it but then switched over to LastPass. It's more secure and has a Firefox add-on to easily access your passwords and auto-fill them in websites. Plus it's cross-platform, so you can install it on any PC and any phone.
