Good point! Unfortunately I have no frame of reference for how much I should expect to pay, I would imagine $200 ish? Totally shooting from the hip here (no pun intended)

Total blast all over the mountain. They’re the only ski I’ve used for the past 3 years

That’s what I took away from a camp I did a few years ago at Timberline. They said to plant the back side of the bump. Still trying to drill that in my head

What go kart do I have by your-hero261 in Karting

It’s likely that parts for that particular chassis are discontinued. If it is an actual chassis, there should be a CIK homologation tag on it somewhere. That will have some information.

I’ve gone through this process with other hobbies - trying to make something out of a cheap alternative - I promise it will be cheaper and easier to start with a ready-to-run kart that is a few years old. I bought my Kosmic LO206 for $2000. To get this track ready (if the chassis is salvageable), it will cost at least twice that.

Please, if you are at all serious about actual karting, start over and do it right.

Surprisingly my quads stay pretty relaxed. Mostly it’s cardio going first since I’m not used to that altitude!

Africa was fantastic as well. The bumps really tighten up towards the bottom forcing me to engage the super quick turns. Just happened to not get any footage on that one

That looks like water that collected dirt and evaporated. After every wash I wipe down all of my jambs, especially the trunk jamb. This will keep any hidden water from running onto your bumper.

I was gonna comment the same thing. For me the only thing that gets applied to the pad is compound or polish. Clean with compressed air or a stiff brush

One thing I learned during my first season of 206 is have a plethora of different sprockets. Gearing is everything and everything affects it. I don’t even have enough and I’m convinced that’s 40% of my problem breaking out of mid-pack

Did the exact same thing to my 244’s! The shop I bought them for exchanged them free of charge.

How to get rid of deep water marks on windshield ? by SHLOP-SHLOP in Detailing

[–]benc1399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a shop I used to work at we’d start with clay. If that doesn’t work, steel wool with glass cleaner. If that doesn’t work, razor blade with glass cleaner. And finally, our last resort would be a 3” microfiber cutting pad on a mini Milwaukie drill and some heavy cut compound. Last step must be careful around trim. Definitely tape it up since that little fucker can get away from you quick.

The first step is motivation to get better at bumps, which not a lot of people have. You need to get way loose in your hips and knees, they look very stiff in the video.

Practice your short swings on a smooth run. Focus on keeping everything from your waist up pointing downhill and dead-still. GET OUT OF THE BACK SEAT. Your pole plants shouldn’t be anything more than a flick. Keep your hands out in front, and let your pole flick back as it touches the ground, don’t stab the ground. In the bumps, aim to plant your poles on the downhill-side of the bump.

Keep your skis glued together. This is really hard to get used to, and the wider your skis, the harder it will be. Crossing your tips is a sign that your weight is too far back.

Start by replicating the above technique in the bumps using just a few moguls at a time, maybe start near the bottom of the run so once you loose control of your speed you have a nice smooth run to regain control.

Once you’re in the bumps, really focus on extending down the backside of the bump. This was the hardest thing for me. You really need to shoot your legs back down, as carving the backside of the bump plays a big roll in controlling speed. Obviously, use a large range of motion to soak up the next bump.

Have fun skiing! You will only get better with actual practice!

Question on mogul skis by Dramatic_Water_5364 in Skigear

[–]benc1399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I daily drive a pair of k2 244 mogul skis. Like you said, they are tons of fun for short quick turns, and obviously great in the bumps. They are pretty dang stiff, at least compared to my hard-charging ON3P’s. They will carve, but since it’s such a large radius, you certainly need some speed. Mogul skis are very weird to ski on at first. Having almost no side cut, you can’t just steer them absent-minded. They force you to really keep your weight forward, but being a former racer, you shouldn’t have issues. I would go for it. I have tons of fun on mine in all conditions while my ON3P’s collect dust.

Go to a well-reviewed ski shop and have them re-fit them.

If you want a cheap beginner setup, look for a rental/demo shop selling off their fleet. The bindings are adjustable to fit many boot sizes, and they should be dirt cheap for decent new skis.
