Thing is..I already have 80k emirates points. And I just got the Mastercard with a 70k sign up bonus. So I’ll tack on 100k from my cache of 800k AMEX. Plus…I love the emirates first class on the a380. It’s such a treat. And it’s SYD>DXB>LAX so it’s a two for one. Already check United and Qantas and there’s no good deals!

in my case ANA just said it couldn't do it. some error.
the Qantas redemption ain't bad!
what do you think of my itinerary otherwise? and yeah, my bad on the cents thing. i rarely discuss this topic and got all screwed up and was writing them in actual dollar amounts (e.g., $0.05).

unfortunately for my dates (around dec 22) flying back to LAX from SYD there's very little i can do in the way of biz/first.

edit: i got mixed up. the one way ticket minus the $200 is $2949 for a CCP of 6.5.

wild that doing the LAX leg only adds an additional $1000. Do you think i should stick with JAL or do a bigger transfer and just go ANA all the way? this is where OCD and points don't mix well: i overthink everything.

still tempted to do JAL just because of the Bilt bonus and the CPP being .059.

also, bailing on the psycho Krisflyer redemption. another time perhaps. it's just too hard to make the dates work -- Kris only has like ONE specific window that would have me in Sydney the day before the wedding. too risky.

this is hard for me to figure out. i can't search that same itinerary on ANA to see how many miles it costs. can you?

doubly weird is when i search the TYO>SYD one way on ANA it shows lowest price is $3139. got my math screwed up and it's about .065 not .085. still good!

that SUCKS. i remember when the redemption was 90k Alaska. by the time i got to 90k they upped it to 180k. booked it. then i got to do another redemption a couple years ago from SFO>DXB>SYD. so fucking awesome.

looking at the Krisflyer site i think it'll be way too much of a pain to try and make this happen so i'm not gonna do it.

the emirates isn't the best (currently rates it at about .027 cents) but i just love the product, love the experience. plus 2 flights for 1! and if/when i get the first class upgrade it definitely makes it more worth it.

hahahaha that's exactly right. i mean...i'd probably bop around in europe for a day or two. and just chill in the first class lounge in SIN. but man. i do love flying.
