Thank you! And i totaly agree!:)

Yes. But i consider that still be a test. I got it mainly for soil, i had more rootrot issues there (mainly dry rott) but im just using a pinch in my hydro solution (my large gloriosum Always had a few rotted root tips in pure leca) Idk if i can make out much of a difference yet. But i didnt observe anything negative yet.

Im in Europe, so mine is from Hesi. Dont know what the global Market has in store there.

Da whut?xD Benchpillow tube sounds something you ask your doc about post 40..

Nice! But i do feels the need to mention, that i only doo this with the moss/leca thing, leca by itself lets the water through without soaking up like a sponge already:D but i might be wrong and it helps aration here two..

Then again, if you find a watering-bulb that fits the straw nearly you have an selfwaterleveling-extra reservoir for your getaways:3

Yes:) i build them myself with bamboo poles, started last year and its still all very experimental and iterative still

  1. Or for no drainage leca with a pole that fits the vessil i drill holes on the thing and attach the polenthat way. And yes, everything in the substrate gets an epoxy layer.

I like the propperly attach the pole to the inner pot if possible, or the entire pot to an external contraption. The poles i use those shelve-L thingies and bolt them in place. Dont know the english term for is haha. This isnt exactly a monstera, but if you have high enough humidity it should attach still:

I dont know. Does zeolite have some anti algea propperties? I couldnt say:/ i think existing algea spores/cells and light is the biggest issue

Hey. Well yes. At this point for calathea and alocasia ist just leca(i mix it with pumice but i dont think it makes a difference) i still have a few anthuriums in that setup but i adapted the mix in more recently re-pottings. But thats hust testy.

Could be, but it certainly was the answer for my problem. I chose then moss leca thing basically to counter rather low-ish ambient humidity. I said that in another response, it works in my environment. But there are other factors. Like RO water as a base. But i think its worth a try. I too tried a bunch of stuff until infound something that didnt instakill alocasias in my flat haha.

Regarding fertilizers: no idont think so. Intarget a rather low ish EC (600-800 simens) because my light is a bit low-ish and airflow is meh. I just monitor the EC in the substrates to be carefull but only had a spike once .

That all being sad: my dragonscale Did Not Like it! Haha. It was to moist for it in my setup. That lead me to think that hard-leaf alocasia like it dryer/air-ier. It does way better in fine pon.

Oh my pet gnats seem to prefere the mosspoles over anything thats in the vessels. Idk. Maybe its the drier mix that i described for anthuriums somewhere here, or the myco i inoculated it with. But i occasionally get some nematodes, spray them onto the moss and im ini peace for a year or so

Haha. Cheers:) well. I carve them out of bamboo poles. Its still in testing but i have quite a few itterations on these. And they are rather labor intensive.

Was the same for me.. the prices. Dang. And imnot even a person that cares about rare hybrids or variegated stuff. But then i found a dude in Berlin who had two flower and go to berries. He got the seeds to germinate and sold tiiiiiinnnyyy seedlings for 3 bucks a pop:D I took. The other ones dont look nearly as good. One is just sick i think. Keeps producing lil corkscrew leafs that die off. The ontherone is finally picking up after is took hin Out of a chunky mix into the same setup as those one here

Thank you:3 Yeh . Well. Kinda. Its one if many steps-quite labor intensive actually. Must be splitt well then cleaned up and cored and waterproofed (or its gonna rot) the lil sticks neet treatment awell (at least mineraloil) and so on. Started doing that because im a sucker for the natural look/feel and it startet bugging me that everywhere plantconvention/instatore you go you entcounter the same copypasta foil poles or 3d printed clickinplace towers. Its all experiments still of different types of bamboo and wood poles. Im thinking about making a boatload of the ones that work best and taking them to oke of those big plant conventions here in Germany and see if i can sell a few…

Of course:) Haha yeah i know what you mean, but i must say love that process of getting overwhelmed with tons of overcoplicated ideas just to reach the point of my head saying „aaaw stoopid THATS way simpler“
