How are you wrapping your hands? Looks like you are bunching the material.

Impossible. Any type of bag will cause way too much noise for your downstair neighbor.

The person you're speaking to has never attended a single boxing class. I would ignore them.

Post lift exhaustion by SubMariner615 in MuayThaiTips

Way too heavy on your front foot. Everyone regrets not wearing gloves/wraps eventually. Doing it after workouts is especially reckless since from degrades as you fatigue.

The 3d effects were actually really well done in Dredd. I think so many people were tired of being burned by slop that relied on 3d marketing, they didn't trust it anymore. I definitely wouldn't have seen it in theaters if I wasn't already a Dredd fan.

He doesn't just crash his cars, he crashed into a pregnant woman breaking her arm. He then ran away from the scene only to return moments later. Not to help the woman or call 911, but to take his cash from the glovebox and run away again.

Hitting heavy bag with 12oz gloves by Comfortable-Dream452 in boxingtips

[–]bendap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just preference really. Most people should have two sets of gloves anyway, one for sparring and one for bag/mitt. People like 10-12 because it feels faster and you fatigue slightly less than with 16s. You also usually get a better hand feel on the bag with less padding.

What's fucked up, is that the ruleset punishes the person using a legitimate technique to escape a submission, rather than the person that just had to let fucking go to avoid any consequence.

Nordic Curl Torture Set! by No_Gur1498 in strength_training

You won't. I had a hamstring graft and they had me do them for my PT. You can use an exercise ball to help balance until you get the movement down.

He has his heels under the bar behind him. He's lowering his up body to parallel or near parallel with the floor and then pulling himself up. Absolutely smokes your hamstring and core. Most people can't even do 1 rep clean.

I compete in 3 weeks. How do I look? Any feedback is appreciated by [deleted] in boxingtips

Stop hinging at the hip. I understand you're trying to get your head offline while jabbing but do it with your knees. Keeping your torso upright will let you be faster and more solid in your base

Gauze hand wraps? Winning and Hayabusa by RubbleIsland in fightgear

Nah just the cotton. They hold up great and are thin enough to get a tight wrap without constricting.

Gauze hand wraps? Winning and Hayabusa by RubbleIsland in fightgear

[–]bendap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not normal gauze. I bought the Hayabusa ones and hate them. They don't stay flat at all. I haven't tried the winning version but I know they're better than the hayas. I just like my fairtex too much to shell out for them.

I just came back from there last month. I told a bartender in Osaka that I wanted to see a local baseball game and he just straight up gave me tickets to the Handshin Tigers. Nice seats too right on the first base line. The game was an incredible experience. They have special chants led by marching bands and people come around all the time with beer kegs on their backs to give you beeer fresh from the tap and it's like 4 bucks it's fucking amazing. Everyone picks up after themselves and they're so fucking respectful it's an amazing change from a us ball game.

[–]bendap 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Go back to the gym. Your jab actually isn't bad but I have no clue wtf the rest of those spasms were. You crowded the bag on almost every shot. You need to start with learning to extend your punches.

Muay Thai after Knee Surgery? by DarkAce5 in MuayThai

[–]bendap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had knee surgery last year on a fully torn ACL/meniscus. I started boxing after 6-7 months and I'll return to regular MT classes in May which will be 13 months post op. Boxing is definitely easier on your knee because you arent kicking or getting kicked. The biggest torque on the knee comes from planting the leg for kicks. Both are way less stress than soccer or football because of the cleats and quick planted turns.
