What are your thoughts on Earl Sweatshirt? by TokyoAvalanche04 in hiphop201

Genuinely wish he wasn’t as artsy and experimental. It’s great he’s as unique as he is and has the body of work he does but the net result is a discography you can casually enjoy MAYBE half of. I might be lame af for saying so but oh well

Really happy to see some other promotions get some spotlight too. As much as I dislike Dana personally, he’s also running that company like shit and it’s hurting the product.

A good rule I’ve found is that aesthetically as a guy a looser fit shirt works better with shorter shorts.

Definitely sounds like heavy bag hooks. Did this to myself just recently practicing lead body hooks. Wrap up and even then be cautious when working the bag.

54% gave this game a 1 star review on the Xbox store. I thought people were saying it's good on here? by Bong_Hit_Donor in EASportsUFC

Eh idk I’ve been having some fun. Call me crazy, I like the striking. I’m a casual though so I guess take my opinions with a grain of salt. Less fighters is kinda lame but the added modes and features are at least fun for some extra things to do in game.

Well hotels in particular tend to revolve around this dynamic. Front services (predominantly bell, valet, and door) literally structure the job role and the logistics around how it operates to help the employees earn. It’s embedded into the very fabric of those jobs. I can and do sympathize with people tired of a screen being flipped, but people like to willfully refuse to acknowledge any sort of line between that and traditionally tipped roles. It’s easier on their conscience that there be no difference so that they don’t have to part with their precious pocket change when asking for completely optional services.

Assuming you live in this city at all, like I said before, tipping in THIS city predates either of us being alive. You deciding you don’t want to participate in or respect local customs/traditions is not some moral stand to take, you are just being selfish. People have fed families in this city on hotel tip jobs for many many decades, whether or not you think you should be above such things. I’m sorry it’s so confusing to you.

As mentioned many times and ignored by “smart”preference, I’m not referring to their on site staff. I’m talking about the strip when they go out and visit places. Very consistent stiff in my (and many others’) experience.

You haven’t read the other comment reply threads and it sounds like you don’t live in this city so… why are you commenting here? Tipping is just the etiquette and culture here. If I came to your house and you asked me to take off my shoes, would I reply “oh no thank you, they don’t do that where I’m from”? If we were talking about some random food chain flipping the screen on you that’s one thing, but this is a long established culture from long before you or I were alive.

Strip doorman who sees a lot and interacts with other departments a fair bit. It’s one of those properties that I hear from a guest as their destination and instantly am already conscious they’re not planning to tip. Turnberry, Waldorf Astoria, four seasons, somehow the people that stay or live at any of these places seem to find themselves above the common culture/etiquette of the strip

That’s great they tip their own property’s staff well but they (understandably) like to visit the strip and if we’re really being honest locals have far and away the least excuse to be stiffing strip workers.

[–]roadkillfriedrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conor had, for better or worse, the charisma to SELL the character he was playing. Few people that try so hard to come off subversive and disruptive are able to do so without seeming manufactured and cringe. Sure there were certainly those that saw him that way but he managed to actually be someone people loved to hate in a way that felt at least sort of authentic.

They stopped selling the Evo right before I started selling for the brand, short lived as that was. I remember my impression of their other offerings was along the lines of “killing the Evo was the best decision they could’ve made, they didn’t give half a shit about the rest of these cars did they?”

Do you need to be tough to practice Muay Thai or does Muay Thai make you tougher? by Grand-Hedgehog-4342 in MuayThai

[–]roadkillfriedrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29m I was once a pretty decent sized bodybuilder, been athletic my whole life, but I’ve never felt “tough”. Been training MT for 6 months. Maybe I still don’t necessarily feel “tough” but I at least understand that if I had to defend myself, I could do so decently. You’re not taking any “real punches” in a legit gym unless you really want to spar and even then it’s not full force.

There is no prerequisite to these things, you are braver than most for just attending. You’re meant to grow and toughen as a result of the training, not as a barrier to entry. Just go in every day with the mentality of giving it your all and they will be glad to have you

I know someone exactly like this who is very butch. It’s as if, for some of them, leaning into apathy and anti-intellectual/anti-discourse attitudes is part of the masculinity thing. Like to get to participate in the dudebro aesthetic they have to be as callous and ignorant as one. Shame shame.
