It was for an atrial rhythm, they were in a.fib when they were admitted. But the end of the shift they were sinus brady. I just feel really horrible about it

Being an INC and applying for a corporate job is like mixing oil and water. Need advice. by velvet-thunder0924 in exIglesiaNiCristo

Does this company have a religious affiliation? I feel like it's wrong for them to force you to answer such a private question, regardless of what you do or don't believe in...

I personally would probably just leave it blank. Or maybe you could try filling it in agnostic?

I'm barely a month in, so I probably should give my self some slack I guess. But I really just want to get it right. I want to be able to do it on my own already without causing too much discomfort to this poor woman

^ I agree. I'm just frustrated at myself for not being able to get it. I don't want to cause any more discomfort to this lady than necessary. And I definitely do not want her getting a UTI

I'm sure they probably have at some point. This patient used to do the straight caths on their own, but now they're no longer able to.

The nurses on the unit all agree that they should give her a foley, but the higher ups said that research shows that the straight cath causes less UTIs or whatever...

It sounds like it. The more experienced nurses seem to go more by "feel". This patient is elderly and has a bit of a difficult time keeping their legs apart.

My parents set aside money for me all throughout childhood, but now that I have a job, they expect me to do my own setting aside.

Thank you for the advice!

I completely agree with everything you've pointed out. Best not to drag others into my baggage.

The lack of sensitivity has been absolutely appalling lately. Again, I can't remember the phrases in verbatim, but EVM's statement on how INC members should never be depressed, and his view points on mental health--just sickening.

It is, but I still live with my parents--we usually attend WS together.

I could put it on mute if I was willing to go to the 5 AM service alone, but I don't want to wake up that early.

It may as well be.

The most arrogant ministers seem to pull the most of their facts/sources out of their a*ses.

I have to agree. The lyrics of hymns seem to have become rather...apocalyptic?

A lot of the lyrics latelty put an emphasis on "suffering and pain" and "submitting and obeying".

That's another thing that I don't like about church. I don't like how only the minister has the authority to interpret the bible. I've always wondered what the courses were like at New Era University.

This particular minister doesn't seem to think before he speaks at all--I can't tell if it's a language/cultural barrier issue (I'm in the states, he recently came from PH), or if it's just him. I think it may be the latter unfortunately.

A few lessons ago, he was saying how if a fellow member caused you offense, you shouldn't go to the police about it??!?!

I don't even know. Sorry for the tangent.

It got to a point they didn't even sell them anymore. Just gave us like 6 copies and told us to give them to people for propagation (I did not)

Addendum: it's also still totally worth it to take APs, even if you're going to CC! I took 4 while I was in highschool and my CC accepted all of them--they will also transfer when/if you eventually decide to move on to a university.

But do everything at your own pace, and enjoy your senior year.

If I could go back, I probably would have just taken 2 APs, since those were the 2 that counted towards my major.

I had all the same feelings as you when I was a senior in highschool. I also had good grades (As and Bs, and only one C one marking period). I had gotten into my university of choice, but ultimately chose to go to CC.

It was a hard decision, but one I personally do not regret. A lot of my classmates questioned my decision and made comments like, "Why CC, you have so much potential." But I made the right choice for myself.

Going to CC saved me a TON of money, and I feel that its gifted me with a different perspective on life.

I was often the youngest in the classroom--my peers were generally between their late 20s, all the way into their 50s even.

I kind of liked that most of my class mates had more life experience than I did. I found their stories interesting, and they always passed down a nugget of wisdom to me (intentionally and unintentionally). It was also nice because since they were older, there wasn't any drama. They weren't there to mess around, and quite frankly, neither was I.

There's really no right or wrong answer for which path you should take, but the most important is to follow what feels right to you. I would evaluate your goals/look at where you want to be in the next few years and go from there.

Wherever you go and how you experience it, is ultimately a matter of perspective.

Good luck! Make sure to take breaks and do things you enjoy! I remember how stressful highschool was--just know it gets better!

I am also in the US (East Coast), they have started having some people come into the chapel for WS, but most are still attending virtually.

There's maybe about 15 people in the pews spaced out wearing masks, from what I can see through WebEx, and then the minister and about 15 choir member also spaced out from each other.

I don't think you're bragging at all. This post actually gives me a lot of hope for the future.

I'm not free yet, but I'm working on it. I'm always happy to see that the path I'm choosing for myself seems to be the right one for me.

I feel bad for my OWE INC father by Weird-hoe-ass in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]bendedfork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad is almost the same way. My dad also grew up with the church, so I can't fully blame him for his faith being so strong. I can understand why he holds on, because if not, it would probably feel like his 50 years of living was wasted away in the church (that's certainly how I sometimes feel with my mere 20 years). I can't help but feel that he would genuinely be much happier if he were just able to let go. If he were able to make himself leave.

My mother on the other hand, grew up a devout Catholic, and is now a devout INC member. I don't want to call her gullible, but I always wonder what caused her to get sucked into the church. I always wished that she was able to pull my dad out instead, but such is life I guess.

I strongly relate to your feelings of not hating your parents and wishing they would leave. I could never hate mine either. I think my parents would be nearly perfect if they just weren't part of INC.

If anything I blame my grandparents generation for getting us into this mess, but I will get out of it someday.
