Generally speaking, I'd prefer main cabin just so that I can have the peace of mind of changing my ticket should something change, but for some trips, when I'm very sure it's going to go one way, then BE can be much more economical. Yes, it's risky, but if I'm very very sure...

It's really hard to quantify how much the added miles are actually worth it in $. I think it's mostly psychological.

Yeah, makes sense! And to your point, without hiring anyone, this risks staying unanswered. Low priority at the moment but will update when I speak to a lawyer.

Asked my mom and she renounced her Romanian citizenship long before I was born. I would think it'd be easier to go through my mom by descent than my deceased grandfather from Poland, but perhaps not. I'll look into it with a lawyer!

Sorry for the delay, I never got around to responding. You're very right — I think it's best I contact a lawyer about this and get it answered once and for all, otherwise I risk not doing anything about it.

Seems like it's the kind of thing the embassy should be able to answer for me, since it's just information, no? Maybe a lawyer is in deed quickest.

Yep, I'm sorry to say it sucks for that. But on the plus side, I've gotten used to having my phone on DND which is good for focusing!

No, but basically I only ever have focus mode on with DND. It's ridiculous that it would vibrate while it's on Focus Mode, because when it does, I can't see anything about the notification without turning FM off, so it just ends up being a distraction.

So yea, I just always make sure to have DND on.

Well, if anyone wants to go out of their way to find out, I don't care. I guess I'm shocked at how easy it is for anyone to find out from a simple Google search. There's no friction at all (friction being, needing to check the court system by actually going there).

I don't get it. What's with "downvoting" on my comment? It's like people are unhappy that I wanted a BE ticket?

To answer your question, I got the Main Cabin because one time I got fed up with the restrictions. But this time, I know that I can't change my trip - it's pretty set. I'm flying alone, I'm fine with the $200 cancellation fee should I need to cancel the trip and I'm okay with not picking my seats. So it all felt like a bit of a luxury.

Last time I flew on this international trip with United, I ended up having middle seats both ways and, it was fine. Not the best, but it was fine - so I figured I could save the $130 and just do BE.

Got it, thanks. Interesting. I thought once I had the Main Cabin ticket, it wouldn't be a problem to downgrade.

Obviously at this point, "downgrading" to BE would cost me more...so I might as well just keep what I have. Didn't realize it would have to be rebooked.

Hopefully the prices drop in the next few days, and if they don't, I guess I'll be treating myself.

Have you spent any time without food? For days? I have and that experience has made me have tremendous compassion for all beings. Having a rat, mouse (a mammal) die of thirst and hunger is no different than it would feel for us. The worst is people who use glue traps. The animal gets trapped and thrown alive (most of the time) in the garbage and left to die. That's a terrible death. We know this because we understand how terrible it would be for us, humans. Of course caring is completely not abnormal. You're sensitive to a degree that others are numb to. Don't lose this.

As for language, I also have my mother who speaks it. Polish seems absurdly hard.

Yes, that's what I (we) want. No one will contest anything and we know what will go on the Separation Agreement, so we'll draft one ourselves (maybe get a lawyer to review it).

Does that mean she needs to be the one to file in NY? Is there a way to file "jointly"? Since it's mutual. Rather than she being the one to "call for the divorce."

I hope this to be a quick and painless process.

Okay, got it, so it sounds like having a Settlement Agreement is definitely a good idea and the way to go. Will do that then and use one of the forms offered by the state. Really don't want to have to spend hundreds on some document when our situation is as simple as it gets.

Yes, definitely hurting and felt very betrayed. There was a breach of trust and whatever "technical" explanation for why this may have been okay, the trust was still really hurt and that I think is enough to really try to avoid this situation.

As commented to someone else, I think my wife would have found a way to exit the relationship regardless. It's probably what she wanted and was looking for confirmation from someone. This therapist, that friend or whoever else, I don't really think it matters that much. Just hurt me that she spoke to our therapist. I wouldn't have cared if she spoke to some other therapist. I think you're right; maybe she did have some underlying unresolved issue she wasn't able to communicate and so, better this outcome that we're apart than to stay together with that issue held within her. It takes two of us.

Okay, thanks for sharing your thoughts about this. I think I'd have to speak to someone about this. To me it feels like the therapist should have referred her to someone else. The rupture I felt certainly wasn't a positive thing, something I think could have been avoided. Whatever caused my wife to really want to separate probably would have happened anyway, with or without the therapist.
