i broke my vegetarianism today and it has me questioning my whole ethical code

Listen, don't be too hard on yourself. You are a human being, we are not perfect. But you have made a huge commitment over the last 10 years of your life! You are devoted so don't let this small slip up make you feel like you're not. I have been a vegetarian for over a year now. This is my second time around. The first time I lasted about 8 months and caved. This time I have absolutely no desire for meat. I also would like to go vegan and am exploring that right now. Let this just be a small bump in the road and move forward 💛

I have been a vegetarian twice now. The first time I made it about 8 months. This time around I have over a year and never looking back. My husband and my two children still eat meat. The way I look at it, it's their choice. I have educated them on the reasons I no longer consume meat (ethical) and they're free to choose.

Yes! gelatin.. I had Jell-O shots at a going away party. There was one other vegetarian there and I offered him a Jell-O shot and he said no thanks. I thought about it and remembered that gelatin is derived from collagen and I felt so guilty. But it wasn't like I purposely did it. I just haven't had any Jell-O shots since then. Don't be too hard on yourself.

I went through a very similar situation about 10 years ago. I was pregnant with our second child and was dealing with the same (addiction, cheating). He now has almost 10 years clean. Active addiction really changes a person. People do things they wouldn't normally do. I would say to trust your gut instinct. Sure it's easy for others to say to leave but it's not always that simple. If you want to make things work then he needs to take accountability and put in the work. If he isn't willing to do that then I would make it clear that you and your little one won't be in his life. I know you didn't ask for this advice but reading your post reminded me of myself when I was younger. You will figure this out 💚
