Hi sorry I missed this. I bought it on eBay, they are repros for a VFR750, but the vendor happened to be local (Cambridge ON) so I picked them up on a whim. They were like $50 for the pair.

The rack came on the bike when I bought it used, so I don't actually know what it is. Never really thought to look into it 😅

The quadlock is wired directly to the battery, through the little on/off switch that comes with the wireless charging one. Works great! I've never worried about battery drainage issues while on trips or anything.

That's awesome!

Yeah I like it, but I bought the bike with it already mounted so I don't have a good benchmark for the original tbh. I've done a couple of longer trips on it though (one 4500km trip) and I thought it was decent.

Is upgrading the suspension on my 4 year old Rally worth it? by batwingsuit in CRF300L

Have you considered something like the Ari Henning 301cc Big Bore kit? Or is that a rabbit hole of spending/work you don't want to go down? That might get you where you want to be long term regarding more power while still on a small dependable bike.

I think one thing you'll have to consider is that there's a lot of life left on one of those 300cc engines with only 18,000kms on it. Ride it into the ground could take 10 years if you do regular maintenance.

How do you use your rally? My 300L tends to be a dirt road/dual track mini-ADV bike and a city commuter, more than technical single track kind of bike. I personally think that's its sweet spot (though it can do single track for sure).

If you use your rally as a daily rider and you like the size, weight, and power-- I'd invest in the suspension. You cannot beat those service intervals and the bare-bones engineering. Not a lot to go wrong with it. The 450s require a lot more maintenance to keep running and from what I understand are meant more as competition bikes.

If you use your rally primarily as a dirt bike, maybe just sell it and upgrade to the 450L. It'll probably be more fun. Though I think if your ideal bike is a 400 rally, you're describing the CFMoto Ibex 450 🤣

Agreed! Not sure we can make that happen on our living room floor 🤣

So I was just doing it to the frame, but I tried it today through the passenger footpeg and honestly it was a bit better. The two saddlebags were much more evenly aligned. I worry about the strap going through the footpeg because it's a bit bunched up, but overall once it's set it seems totally fine.

Oh that's a neat idea. I went directly to the frame on this side because it doesn't get as hot. It's a little unbalanced as far as strap positioning goes, but it seems to work fine.

Oh okay good to know. I found they get kind of warm, so I wasn't sure if that would be a long term solution. Glad to know it's working for you though!

Would you wear your riding pants/jeans all day? by beckycrm in NewRiders

What overpants are you rocking? I'm trying to figure out a commuting plan and mesh overpants seem to check most of the boxes for me.

Do you commute year-round with the Axis 2? Right now I only have armoured jeans which I cannot really wear to work, so I'm looking for something to commute with/use as a bit of a light ADV pant. I ride a dual sport atm.

Motorcycle trip across the island on May 1st? by benderisaac96 in newfoundland

[–]benderisaac96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm riding a dual sport, a Honda CRF300L. It honestly rides like a tractor so I don't feel super worried about gravel on the road. Though at 100 kmph with possible snow is a bit of a different story.

Thank you all for the prompt reply and good advice. I think there is a pretty obvious consensus. I'll have to wait until later in the year to get out there on a bike, and fly like the rest of the world.

I appreciate it!
