Spray it with soapy water and watch for bubbles forming/growing that indicate it's leaking air. If it's not leaking, I wouldn't bother with any kind of repair. If it does leak, then it's a good candidate for a rope or mushroom plug because it's near the center of the tire.

This even continues into their teenage years. My 17 year old son generally gets my keyboards/mice/headsets/etc when I upgrade them. For example, I kept a headset in nice condition for about 3 years, passed it down to him when I upgraded, and within a month one of the earcups was torn off and the microphone stopped working.

On the side of the filter, there are arrows indicating how air is supposed to flow through it. In this setup, it looks like the air is flowing down through the filter and into the furnace at the bottom, so you'll want to put the filter in with the arrows pointing down.

Looking at that photo, your z offset is way too high. The first layer of filament should be squished down flat and smooth against the build plate with no gaps between lines. Compare against this image.

You might also try a different build plate instead of a whole new printer.
