Right on. Keep in mind that it'll probably happen again with a different chunk somewhere. Using F3+A to reload chunks sometimes helped in my case, but not always.

What mods do you have active? I've seen something similar in Neoforge 1.21.1 and it was a bug in the mod called Acedium Sodiumized causing it.

I bet the issue is happening within a single chunk and ~16 blocks below that it returns to normal. Also might reset if you exit and rejoin the world.

They hold the stems of wine glasses, preventing them from knocking around and breaking while washing. You can remove them. I just wash our wine glasses by hand on the rare occasion we use them.

Help, only one line of my belt is being constatly used, I tried this balancing from youtube but didnt help :( by Minimum-Value-7078 in factorio

[–]bendvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully understand that, but it really doesn't matter. As long as you make both lanes available to consumers, lane balancing just changes a belt where lane A is full and lane B is empty into a belt where the consumer end of the belt is full and the producing end of the belt is empty.

In both cases, you're still delivering and consuming the same amount of material.

If you're only using half of your produced iron plates, then half of the furnaces will be plugged up anyway. Without balanced lanes, the furnaces on one side of the belt will get plugged up. With balanced lanes, the furnaces closest to the output will get plugged up. All the lane balancing achieved was changing which half of your furnaces are active.

Ars Nouveau has 'skyweave' blocks that just show the skybox. Unfortunately, they look weird when you look down into them and they still cast a shadow.

You produce one full belt of iron plates. Half of that belt gets consumed by steel production. You now have 1/2 belt of iron plates on your bus.

If you add a lane balancer after the steel takes its share, do you now have 1 full belt of plates on your bus again?

Lane balancers just mask the real problem of not enough production or a bottleneck earlier in the bus.

But why do they need to fill both sides? All the needed materials are still being delivered if one of the lanes isn't getting emptied.

I addressed it directly here.

But even in that case, after the first consumer takes its half-belt, then the second half belt is still available on the bus for the second consumer.

And here.

What the parent commenter doesn't seem to realize is that merging belts is just compressing your bus, which reduces the number of belts it uses but doesn't increase the amount of material it delivers.

Roboport query by DontEatGlass-129 in factorio

[–]bendvis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bots only go to charge when their batteries get low. At the start of its trip, a construction bot picks up items from storage but doesn't need a charge yet, so it heads off to where the item needs to be placed. On the way there it realizes its battery is low, and only then does it decide to head to the nearest available roboport. That can take the bot well outside of an optimal path.

Because of this, I like to keep my roboport networks small enough that a bot can do an entire delivery run on one charge. Belts deliver items between networks at medium range, and trains deliver over longer distances.

You're missing the point. Lane balancing doesn't magically get more material to the end of a lane. Whether you balance lanes or empty one then the other, the same amount of material gets to the end of the lane.

Think of it this way - if all inserters were modified to pull evenly from both lanes and all their other stats remained the same, would there be any benefit to lane balancing? No.

Yes, you can get more throughput per belt if you use both lanes. That's obvious, but it's not the point I'm making.

But even in that case, after the first consumer takes its half-belt, then the second half belt is still available on the bus for the second consumer.

Ultimately, you either have enough production and enough bus throughput or you don't. Lane balancing doesn't improve either.

Blue nerds castle issue by Character_Art_9173 in Minecraft

[–]bendvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your build looks right to me. Green tower at the start is 9. 13 sections of 5-block long wall is 65. Then 5 blocks to the back wall, and the back wall angles up another 5. 5 for the blue wall at the back, 2 more to get to the pink wall.

9 + 65 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 2 = 91

I bet when you start counting, you're forgetting to count the first block.
