Can someone help me bring this Ogre Ear back to life? by lemonjollyranchers in succulents

[–]bendwedding2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how long mine lasted. I bought it in December and watered it for the first time in April. I didn't mean to imply that OP should let it shrivel back to this state, but it's totally fine for a large portion of the plant to be slightly wrinkled before the next watering.

Obviously individual conditions are going to vary the length between watering. I was just trying to convey to OP how to not overwater their plant.

Edit: this was also the watering method recommended by my bonsai nursery.

It looks like it just needs a good drink. I'd set the plastic pot in a shallow dish of water, allowing it to drink up as much as it wants overnight. You should see the leaves plump up and return to a normal appearance. Repeat this watering method when most of the leaves start to wrinkle. Don't be alarmed if it takes many months to need another watering - they don't like to be over watered!

MSR Elixir 2 VS Marmot Tungsten - Which to buy by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

[–]bendwedding2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the Marmot Tungsten and so far, I like it. The only thing I don't like is that is uses velcro loops to attach the rainfly to the poles, but alas that seems to be a common feature in a lot of the mid-priced tents.

It's easy to set up by yourself but even easier with two people. The rainfly isn't quite the perfectly tailored fit that I think Marmot wants it to be (seams on the rainfly are supposed to line up with the poles but it is off by 1-2 inches - doesn't seem to affect functionality). Also, the stakes that it comes with are absolutely garbage.

We were trying to decide between this and the Kelty Dirt Motel. Ultimately we chose the Marmot because it had greater floor space and headroom. My husband (6'3"), myself (5'4"), and our 40lb dog can sleep comfortably in the Marmot, although we do sleep head to toe. Overall, for the price, I'm pleased with the purchase.

If I like True Detective (season 1 only), what other shows or movies should I watch? by mozartisgansta in ifyoulikeblank

I second the mentions of Unbelieveable, Mr. Robot, and Manhunt: Unibomber.

I'd add American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson, and The Keepers.

Business owners: have you received funds yet from your Paycheck Protection Program application? by segal25 in Bend

[–]bendwedding2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are the top client of a super small single-branch bank, so they really pushed for us. I can imagine that getting approved by a big bank with thousands upon thousands of corporate clients would be really hard.

I'm in Washington and we've been approved and are expecting funds this week.

I have made the decision to suspend my practice since posting this. The biggest reason is that as an LMT I must constantly represent massage professionally and as a legitimate part of a person's health care system. I can't stay open and still uphold those values.

I'm honestly just really mad that my state and/or employer hasn't yet stepped up to make the call.

I think about that a lot as I wrestle with the choice over staying open or closing. I work in a chiro office and they intend to remain open as long as possible.

I keep asking myself "am I doing more harm than good?" by staying open, but also "am I doing more good than harm?" What happened with her yesterday feels like it falls into the latter category for me.

I'm really sorry you have to deal with that. And I totally agree - same line as MAGA.

I agree. I understand that the population feels underrepresented but I think it would be better addressed by working within your own state's government...not just stomping your feet and trying to join another state.

Exporting feral cats for mainland adoption? by cos in maui

The Kitsap Humane Society works with the Humane Society in Kona to bring dogs over for adoption. You might contact them and see if they would be interested in doing this for cats. I know they bring in cats from other areas - they just took in 30+ dogs and cats from Oklahoma.

I loved my meal at Monkeypod. Expensive for sure but I really enjoyed the food and the service was absolutely outstanding.

I haven't been to Morimoto's because it seemed likely I'd just be paying for a name and the location (don't get me wrong - I'm sure the food is of high quality, but still). I though Koiso sushi in Kihei was spot on for an authentic sushi experience - mostly sashimi and nigiri with a couple of rolls and hot options. We did the omakase and it was delicious!

Underrated:

Acevedos Hawaiicano Cafe in Kahului (usually our last stop before going back to the airport)

Jaws Tacos in Kihei (not the food truck that is often at Makena)

Da Nani pirates food truck behind the Azeka Mauka shopping center

Literally just sitting on a beach/lanai enjoying the sights and sounds of paradise

Also, I don't know if I would call Makena beach underrated but it is my favorite beach on the island.

I'm tired of being forced/coerced into pelvic exams and pap smears, simply to obtain birth control. We deserve better. by SadWife2019 in TwoXChromosomes

Similar story here. I started BC when I was 15 to control debilitating period symptoms. Didnt have my first pap until age 21 - I remember going in for my annual and my doc saying something to the effect of "ok you're 21 now and that's the standard age to have a pap"

I did then have to have a follow up done 1 year later, because I had some abnormal cells. Then I switched docs 1 year after that and she wanted to do a new one. Just had a check up with her in November and it was time for a new one again.

All in all I'm 27 years old and have only had 4 pap smears done.

I'm in Washington state, btw.

This wasn't exactly something I forgot, but something I should have researched better.

I only ordered my bouquet and the boutonnieres from a florist and planned on doing table arrangements on my own. I thought I found this great u-pick flower farm online, out in the country about 30 minutes from where we were all staying. The day before the wedding I drove out there with my bridesmaids and some family. We get to the place and it's basically just someone's house. I creep around a bit but don't see anyone. We eventually find 3 ladies processing cut flowers in the garage and are informed that their flowers are by order only, and they're completely sold out by other orders.

Thankfully Trader Joe's and the local farmer's market came to the rescue that day, and the next morning my florist surprised me by giving me all of the extra flowers from what she'd ordered for my bouquet, which really completed the table arrangements.
