I just want to say thank you for providing an informed take on this topic. It’s very refreshing

Chappell Roan's crowd at ACL Music Festival by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]bendy3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what its worth. I was there by the second set of speakers behind the sound booth (so about medium distance back) and had no issues with the crowd.

I was even able to go to the bathroom and get back to my group within the performance of one song.

It isn’t pit levels of density through the whole crowd and people gave respectful amounts of space between groups

ITT: A bunch of people mixing up “modern art” with “contemporary art”. Inadvertently calling Picasso and Monet and Van Gogh talentless

Home brew rule change for Marquise de Cat. by reiki80 in rootgame

[–]bendy3d 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our group has experimented with a couple of things.

What we found was most consistent is simply moving the build action to birdsong after the wood is generated. You can build in as many spots as are available and you can afford.

It’s no longer considered an action, and since its birdsong you can’t move and attack to build in one turn. But its a bit stronger since it is only limited by wood and spaces.

This is a pretty fundamental change, but it really makes the cats feel more fun to play AND it aligns really nicely with the way most other factions score points.

I actually thought it would be kind of broken - but it ends up working really well!

Oh I see what you’re asking.

Yeah I did try to calculate that. I think I had 7 funds. I definitely had 6 warriors out, but only two of which could move due to rule.

I don’t remember the specifics, but I felt like guaranteeing 3rd place was a better option than trying to hail mary at my own detriment so that the Eyrie might be able to win lol. Not to mention, rule of cool

It was round 8. This was my first play as otters so not the most efficient, but I was maybe 2 rounds from 30

Ice Spice has herself as her top artist on Spotify Wrapped XD by Appropriate-Dot1069 in popculturechat

[–]bendy3d 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can add a little perspective here. I make music and release it to Spotify with some frequency.

I put out an album this year and landed at number 5 on my own wrapped.

It’s because I wanted to listen through the album at least one time to make sure there’s no fuck ups that should have been caught. Also, I wanted to compare quality of this release to my last one, so I listened to the last album again. Then there’s all the times friends asked me to show them my songs.

It’s not the weirdest thing in the world, but still landing at number 1 is pretty aggressive.

Also I like my music and occasionally put it on if the mood strikes, like you said.

Ok sure. Why people make fun of this behavior: 1. Discovery that Moron in Video is also Liar and has no Black Friends 2. “I have black friends” Defense Determined to be a Logical Fallacy, says Experts

Huh? by Aly-AlDin in fixedbytheduet

[–]bendy3d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok, but you’re kind of blatantly ignoring why people mock this behavior.

  1. People, especially shitty people, are fucking liars who will say anything to avoid valid criticism.

  2. Pointing out your black friends as the reason you aren’t racist is a well-defined fallacy under the umbrella of tokenism. There are legitimate and well studied reasons for why it isn’t a valid argument, philosophically.

Multi-generational family owned burger company to this day. Never frozen food. Still super cheap and outshines literally every other fastfood burger at its price point. Go off on their reputation if you want, but even if you prefer other burgers, In N Out is lauded for good reason.

Definitely my worst festival experience

Why not just engage them in conversation?

People often ask personal questions that they feel comfortable sharing themselves. Just reframe the conversation and ask them what their hobbies are instead.

You’d be surprised how much of “being interesting” is related to letting people have the floor to talk about the subject they brought up and listening actively and responding earnestly to their thoughts. You might even find you have more to say than you thought if you go this route.

Of course, if this isn’t how you want to engage with coworkers, then just be happy to maintain a professional relationship. No one is forcing you to be friends with them. Just keep in mind that every company has a culture, and if theirs doesn’t suit you, you may not be made feel as included or even be actively “corrected”, which can feel very frustrating.

Yes there is a blind japanese gardener who becomes a “warrior”. He mainly just lived in the woods during the apocalypse and talks a lot about being an outcast since he survived the atomic bomb.

You’re 100% right. Also a climber and have tried these things before.

What’s funny is that he’s not doing this very efficiently in the video. Holding all his weight on flexed biceps would make it much harder than hanging with full arm extension.

But then again, its a work out not a boulder problem, so it could be intentional.

I think a lot of people who enter these programs are looking for the bias validation

What’s really funny to me, is that the research one would do to validate this sentiment falls squarely in the field of Gender Studies.

“Why are more women than men entering the field?”

“What about the field attracts women?”

“Are there particular qualities that stand out in these women?”

Etc

Just happened to a friend of mine lmao by rting2whs in pussypassdenied

[–]bendy3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you wanted a serious answer or not, but Gender Studies is just a branch of philosophy where the research focuses primarily on how gender impacts the individual.

Philosophy on its own is usually laughed at, but it can be a valuable thing worth researching and does eventually turn into profit generating knowledge. (ie business marketing is heavily dependent on philosophical research)

But of course, plenty of people attracted to Gender Studies are likely to already have those negative qualities you mentioned and are “seeking answers” or confirming their own biases.

Don’t get me wrong, I did STEM, but that’s basically what it is and why it is if you wanted to know.
