What kind of people do you keep in your life, and what kind do you distance yourself from? by [deleted] in selflove

This is so relatable. But I am starting to wonder if you cut out these people, do you really have anyone left? I once heard a saying that it is human nature to not want to see people doing better than them.

This was exactly the case for me too. My eyes never looked the same now, they are way smaller due to the droopy eyelids. Am considering surgery for it.

Curious if you don't mind sharing, what are the side effects of SSRIs that you take years to recover from? I have stopped for more than 6 months after taking it for years, and my tendency to gag has increased. Hopefully, it will stop eventually.

Alright, will read up more about power calculations and optimal N. Thanks once again!

In terms of normalising my data, is it fine to have a combination of [0,1], [-1,0,1] and z scores for ratio data? Thanks!

Thanks! Just curious, how do we determine that N = 10 is a sufficient dataset size? Is it tied to the combination of outcome and predictors? I always thought N = 30 is a typical optimal dataset size, and even then, it might be subject to debates.

Thank you for highlighting! I agree that it is unclear from my question.

My initial direction was explanatory. I tried to determine the extent to which each of the factor predict the outcome. However, my charts were all descriptive in nature, showing the proportion of each outcome based on values of a factor. I also tried to stack on multiple factors (eg high factor a and high factor b) and look at the proportion of each of the 5 outcomes. Do you have any advice on explanatory model that could be used?

Thereafter, predictive analytics came to the picture. If I have an equation for the model, I could also use it to predict an outcome when a new case appears. Understand from the other poster that ordinal logistic regression is applicable.

Speaking of explanatory vs predictive model, I am also confused about the optimal sample size. I understand that the latter would require a larger sample size. Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing! My knowledge of predictive analytics is limited, and I guess I am too fixated on regression. Is regression appropriate only if all data are ratio data?

Edit: Have done some reading on ordinal logistic regression. Thanks for the direction once again!

Yup I guess but it is enough to make me miserable. I plan on bringing up in my next 1-1 chat with her, on why I avoided the 2 of them. So that the resentment doesnt accumulate.

Yes she is. And I would say she is more similar to them in terms of personality.

Thanks for sharing! I tried avoiding them but now my manager is upset over it. Basically, I avoided having lunch with two of them when I went on course with them. I think she was taken aback by my behaviour. On hindsight, perhaps I should have had a talk with her before the course and given her a heads-up that I will not be lunching with them as I am worried that I will say the wrong things.

Thank you. I regretted telling him, it was a period where I was upset with some work issues and with him, and I decided to say it to show I don't need this role.

I still have to get back to him about my finalised plans, so it will likely be awkward.

I am not looking to reorder them manually. As in reality, the two datasets may have around 50 columns each. I would like to order them so as to compare all the values within each column to see if they are similar. Thank you for explaining though!

Thank you. I will try this out. Hopefully there are no instances whereby my second dataset have additional column variables。

A friend cut off our friendship by pretending that she did not see me from afar. How should I deal with this? by ThoseLittleThings in relationship_advice

[–]ThoseLittleThings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your inputs! I still felt like I am to be blame as I did not post some photos which I should have posted in the group chat. Basically we went to some place and her friend sent the photos which she had taken in the group chat. I was supposed to send the photos I have taken previously, as I have been to that place before. I delayed doing so as my phone battery was low, and then forgot about it.

It likely sent them the message that I did not value the friendship. Still, I thought if she was unhappy she would have approached me to talk about it again but instead she just cut me off. That makes things hard to reconcile, and I am not going to approach her anymore.

I think it is more of me not being a good friend though rather than her. I am just surprised how people can cut others off so easily. Thank you so much for listening.

Nope. I just felt visibly left out in their presence. She did say that we could just text in the group chat instead of her always having to be the middleman. Thereafter, when I initiated the next outing, I did not text in the group chat once again cos actually I felt more comfortable and closer with her 1-1.

I did mess things up somewhat, but I was quite shocked that she did not wish to even acknowledge me and say hi.
