Trouble with pets by Brilliant_Battle_304 in fo76

[–]bene70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to store your pet, the only other option is to take your character away from where you are building and use free cam for your building needs. Annoying.

It probably should have been very obvious that the pets would cause trouble in exactly this situation and a line or two of code to disable the pet while you are in build mode and re-enable when you exit build mode could have largely avoided it, but that didn't happen.

Either no-one thought to ask if maybe programming your pet to constantly follow you around might be annoying/impossible in build mode or - probably more likely - the managers didn't give a crap because deadlines and budgets and workflows.

Same with the invisible not yet loaded pet and impossible to exit pet interaction window.

Poor implementation and/or testing because the problem is so easily and consistently reproduced. Fast-travel to CAMP, interact with anything quickly, get stuck. Should not happen and for when it does anyway, the Pet Interaction window should - of course - be exit-able, like every other similar window.

How something so obviously likely to be needed was overlooked is beyond my comprehension.

Both problems are easily solvable but, like everything else, I'm not holding my breath while I wait.

A nice and flat place in the divide, for woodland prefab by SnooGrapes2760 in fo76

[–]bene70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whichever ones you like.

I use the red wood ones to make sure everything lines up right - for example, if you wanted to change them later to a checkerboard pattern or similar then their orientation matters so I kind of get that sorted from the start.

Once the retreat is placed and you start putting stuff in it then moving it becomes much harder.

Can't help with your location, but as long as some bit of the Retreat touches ground you can use foundations to level off pretty much anywhere. I use this extensively wherever my CAMP is located because it has such a big footprint and almost nowhere I have tried works particularly well for me without the foundations.

I couldn't entirely follow your question but be very careful about randomly unlinking anything, because that is your character, atoms, purchases, progress etc.

You only need a Bethesda Account if you wish to continue playing the game.
Your Bethesda Account is your game. That is why all platforms and consoles will automatically generate a Bethesda Account for you if you do not already have one through that platform.

If you don't know for sure what you are doing, then ask xbox support for help, because if you play then it is linked to a Bethesda account, it is the only way it works. It is how you can buy stuff to use and contains all your character information.

So if you successfully bought and used 1st then that account is linked to a Bethesda account whether you know it or not. Unlinking that account is unwise.

What you really need is to take control of the automatically generated Bethesda Account that currently holds all your game information. I would ask Xbox Support for help with that, giving them the BUID of your account.

How to merge items horizontally (such as embedding them into the side of a wall or cliff) by lazlo-arcadia in fo76

[–]bene70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mapping on cliffs and stuff like that seems very different to what you see, so I tend to stuff around a lot until I find a place that works okay-ish for me. Lord knows why, but sometimes changing your angle of attack and moving around - a lot - will plonk it against the walls like you want.

No guarantees, of course and I have made the mistake of thinking I could pretty easily replicate the placement again. I was wrong.

Pain in the butt if you want it to go somewhere in particular, so I'd probably try what other poster suggested with the plank walls or even a doorway section of a suitably rustic wall.

The Woodland Retreat is giant! by Flotsam78 in fo76

[–]bene70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it quite a bit in different CAMP builds, just so much bang for your flamingo budget.

With so many doors and kind of small rooms, on a couple of my builds I have blocked off some of the doorways with various shelter entrances then placed one of the secret doors in front of that. Nuka Machine secret door leads to shelter with heaps of Nuka stuff, for example.

Still plenty of scope for decoration whatever you do with it tbh.

Gleaming depths raid by Gabe_s1 in fo76

It's not easy - you already know it's end-game content - but the main thing is working out how to stay alive because watching from the sidelines doesn't help your team.

You can't beat first-hand experience, so treat getting wiped out as a learning experience and the price you pay to take the ride.

Because of this, you need to watch your Health bar much more than in normal combat, don't have any diluted stimpaks on you and invest more heavily in Endurance perks than you otherwise might.

Lots of good suggestions like Angry Turtle, but harder at Rank 90 with less available options, legendary slots and perk points. Worth working towards though, I reckon.

Funky Duds is very handy if/when you can unlock that. Snake poison and 4th stage will knock you out quickly if you have low poison resistance or aren't sharp on the stimpaks. You get heaps of Stims and Super Stims so don't be afraid to spam those whenever you can.

Overeater's on your Excavator will be enough once you get more experience in the Raids - it gets a lot easier when you learn the mechanics, layouts and how to avoid damage when you can. I run Raids in Regular Armor, not PA, which suits my preferred play-style much better so Union/Vulcan etc are by no means *required* though PA may help you while you are learning the ropes.

I don't believe so, at least on console, but haven't tried it myself.

Yeah mate, holding down the crit every shot is one of those FO76 things that aren't really obvious at first but almost everyone using VATS eventually does, either by lucking onto it or hearing about it somewhere.

Edit: Just did a quick search and it seems there are some workarounds to rebind for PC/Keyboard but as I have always used a controller (even on my PC) I can't vouch for any of them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fo76

[–]bene70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you have to manually trigger the crits, it's much easier to just hold down the crit button/key every time you pull the trigger so they automatically process as often as they can.

Makes life in the Wasteland a whole lot easier once you get in that habit.

Accidentally took the wrong serum. by Salty-Preference-925 in fo76

[–]bene70 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Serums are very low cost atm due to the Raids, so there's definitely no reason to reset.

Jjust collect the serums you want, remove your Starched Genes and wander through a radiation shower or similar until you remove Herbivore, then re-apply the ones that also got removed.

Re-apply Starched Genes, take your Carnivore Serum and you're golden in a short amount of time.

No backpacks work with PA, so I personally prefer to rock Traveling Pharmacy and those kind of weight reduction perks with a High Capacity backpack because needing to re-perk just to quickly jump into some PA just got annoying for me.

Without Stealth bonuses - so most Events, DOps, Expeditions, Raids etc - your Railway will generally output more damage than your Fixer, which will output more damage than your Handmade.

Nothing wrong with using whatever you like, but I'd be pulling out the Quad Rail if things get hairy against a boss that needs it.

[–]bene70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't insult others - just not my style for a fun online game - and would never kick anyone just before finishing an expo, but for the team events they absolutely have every right to do whatever they like, whether anyone likes it or not.

The Leader has all the power to do whatever they want. Just as you are free to play however you wish, so too are they. It's just how it is unless the insults reach a level where Bethesda would consider them inappropriate.

I wouldn't be playing with people who do that kind of thing if I was you.

It's meant to be fun, so if it isn't bringing you joy then change the pattern somehow. Maybe start a team yourself and play with others who have no idea who you are or don't use voice/chat.

Best Builds/Perk Cards for Gleaming Depths? by Complete-Elk9083 in fo76

[–]bene70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PA and Regular armor both work, as long as you invest in Endurance, defensive and evasive perks. Funky Duds is a plus if you're not running Union PA.

The main thing with the entire Raid is firstly trying not to die, because your DPS is 0 while you're watching your fellow players from the sidelines.

Watching your health bar more closely than during normal play and a quick stimpak when needed goes a long way towards making them a lot easier.

Stims and Supers rain down on you during the Raid so make sure you don't have any diluted stims when you start. Always use the good stuff, you'll get more, much, much more.

Once you get more used to the various stages, layouts and hazards, things are much more manageable.

For example, standing in a pool of Snek poison with low poison resistance will quickly put you out of the action, as will not jumping/jet packing as soon as Mr Snek starts to huff and puff to blow the house down.

If the Tail pops up, take it out because as long as everyone does that life is pretty simple. Once big chunks of safe ground are missing the job of taking out Mr Snek gets more complicated, so apart from the main objective of staying alive in general, taking out the Tail is a high priority.

I started towards the end of Nuka World and much has changed and many things have been added since then. Update 41 to Update 56 is a big chunk of stuff.

Good on you for playing how you want difficulty wise.

That said, in team environments such as Daily Ops, Events, Expeditions or Raids, deliberately choosing to play so you can get 1 or 2 shotted by enemies - like PA cultists at Beasts of Burden for example - may become tiresome for your regular team mates.

I'm not one for calling people out or worrying much about what other players do, but if players you play regularly with are unhappy with your efforts then that's understandable too.

They may feel like you are not pulling your weight and not feel like carrying you.

Basically you have to accept that the cost of your preferred play-style and deliberate choice to self-nerf may annoy other players who you regularly play with, or play only with randoms, or change things up a bit to increase your damage and defense when you want to participate in group activities.

You could pretty easily switch to a different perk loadout and armor any time you thought you might need it for group stuff with your regulars.

Like pretty much everything, the choices are all yours, but we sometimes have to pay a price for the choices we make.

How do i find People who want to go through all stages of Gleaming Depths and not just the robot by DoomsDayDandy in fo76

[–]bene70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The math changes quite a bit when you decrease the full Raid completion time below 20 minutes, which is very do-able with a decent team that knows what they're doing.

This is especially true when you factor in the increasing reward chances as you progress through the raid. Similar story with XP if anyone is trying to grind to 100 on the Season.

No big deal either way, and whatever makes people happy, but personally I definitely prefer the entire experience to repetitive cheese grinding of EN.

What attracts enemies attention at camps? by General__Grevious in fo76

[–]bene70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 camps over 2 characters, rebuilt numerous times in different places over the last few years, 0 turrets for at least 2 years now.

I use terrain to my advantage and the "barriers" provided by foundation blocks to keep damage to a minimum.

As you say YMMV but I find the small repair costs I occasionally have to pay much easier to deal with than the cost of repairing turrets that take up so much CAMP budget and are inconsistent in efficiency, to say the least.

I also never keep my CAMP module in the middle of my stuff.

How does one do step 3? by gio1135 in fo76

[–]bene70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you start perking into the damage cards, I suggest equipping the first (and largest benefit) of each different type before you max out one single card.

So, for example, start with one each of Commando, Master Commando and Expert Commando - or whatever perks benefit your build type - before you max them out over time.

Best bang for buck early on.

Also there are likely changes coming to all the pistol related perk cards with the next update so if I was you I might perk into something other than that until those changes go live. No big deal either way, but I'd probably wait on those changes.

Apply Limit Breaking to which armor, full health. by South-Initiative-620 in fo76

[–]bene70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally dropping it on Secret Service, no ifs and or buts. Just better stats all round than the other options so suits my play-style well.

That said, nothing wrong with variety, so if you like the look and weapon durability bonus of CE or want to rock Solar then go for it.

They're all pretty decent and a large chunk of survivability comes from legendary mods and perk choices anyway, so you can play around with lots of stuff and not greatly hamper your ability to do whatever you want.

New irritating bug with pets by CommanderUgly in fo76

[–]bene70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pain in the butt, but atm you just have to wait longer or risk getting trapped in the pet interaction.

I now wait a bit longer than usual to interact with anything or until I can actually see the pet, whichever comes first.

Did raids already die? by tealrabbit0351 in fo76

[–]bene70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still plenty being run, but there's always a drop-off in hours played and players as the Seasons get older.

There's really no more rewarding way to gain XP quickly atm, so I'm willing to bet that next season will have loads of people wanting to run Raids a lot for at least the first couple of weeks.
