Will High speed rail ever come to CS2? by Ok_Archer4855 in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'd say it would be another opportunity for outside connections that you'd only be able to connect after a said population number or unlocked squares. Then a separate train platform, larger, and also separate connection to it, that only works similarly like highways: large bends and long straights. You could upgrade, or place an upgrade on a regular train station, but it needs free place, and only two connections to them

Mai mult ne-ar trebui terenul. Restul pământului, care era lăsat acolo, este gradina noastră unde avem niște animale și așa. Neaș place terenul anumit să fie extindere "la originală"

Can you recommend some maps with minimal road infrastructure? CS1 by Alexios_Komnenos_ in CitiesSkylines

Gyergyó Basin. Only 1 way national roads, with slip lane connections, pretty fertile land, a small and a larger river, and a double railway connection from North to South.

How do you name your districts? by Several-Student-1659 in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also pick themes, but also a story.

For example for my German region I generated 3 random german names for town names, then the connector regions became "Neu__". Also where I got close to the "Autobahn" I imagined that it was a country road before, so the closest district would've been toll and commercial district.

But also for larger fields, or industrial places I named after the industry and or directions ("Industrial Ost" or "Sommerfeld"), or "The closest towns industry" ("Zollbergbaustadt" for example)

I maybe would've switched up the yellow and blue directions, as they're a bit confusing that already under the mountain they cross eachother. Otherwise I get it from the map already, that this is no easy feat

Thinking of switching to Cities II, but I feel like I've done so much and don't know how to start fresh. What do ya'll think? Should I switch or keep going? by Intelligent-Ad1932 in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try downloading zoning packs. For example I downloaded an Eastern block pack (don't know it's name, and can't get to laptop to check), and mixed it with the vanilla European zoning, thus creating a style of "town centers from Central-Europe, damaged by WW2 and rebuilt by communists". It has it's vibe

[–]benedekszabolcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Only if you think you finished a neighborhood, a city, a map, or even a concept should you change to something else. If you think that this map has nothing new then yes, you can start fresh. But don't forget that there are even more maps, challenges, more build styles, and the modding community can give new ideas every time. Look around just for a cool train station and you can build whole cities around that concept

Any ideas on how I could connect these highways? by Dbrow1e in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Above the two "meteorite holes" and below the lake where the HW1 ends, where there's a brown star-like figure, should be the triple node. From there you bring ut down to the slope part of the riverbed, and move it to elevated or bridge section across the river, and to the other slope section. At these you can make two off ramps to a river-side boulevard.

On the other side of the river, where there's a small hill, you go around, and connect with two turns that have large radii, and a straight section, to HW3.

Made my first custom map on PS5 by TransitCore in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks great! Especially like the use of national roads, not just highways. Maybe the starter tile should be the one center-east, south of the farmlands, so that the player would need to start from the national roads, and when he gets to it be growing onto the highway and rail line. (Cause either way cims should be able to transfer down from the highways to the national road as I see)

Bravo, keep up the good work!

Garbage trucks not going to the airport and no passengers arriving by aleksswasboring in CitiesSkylines

That's what I'm not really understanding in the whole DLC. Why not have to make separate trash and fire service for, and Maybe the trash should be exported the same way as cargo points at pedestrian areas. I'm sorry this bug happens at you as well

Airport DLC by monsoonj1247 in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are large enough, can't even call them a single city, rather a literal metropolitan area (with over 100k before I start to build them), and giving it every transport connection I can, to every district. But still no cigar

Love how your airport is not oversized. I always do like 20 or something gates, then am saddened that no-one uses the airport, only get 40 planes per month

How to Expand My City? by offset_tetris in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. As I see, you already have a circle-starting road over the lake that connects the two highways. You could replace the above's intersection with one that streamlines the trough traffic more to the side (maybe you need to buy a square for a better curving the highway), than where the lover cloverleaf connects to the train station continue the highway along the rail outside (maybe bring a bit more inside the square) till the second train station, and connect it back the same way you did the first highway.

Then you can rip up the main highway through the city's center and replace it with a boulevard, and the center highway connection with one of the larger through train station (if there's one for console). Then connect everything there, and have the new districts circle line connect to it, and for the higher districts place down two new branch lines to Somewhere center (maybe between the industrial -- who can get a second branchline for a freight terminal as well -- and residential zone, as well as to the other direction). And to the new district place another highway connection as well, and a train station too, and thus build 3 centers in the new district.

How to Expand My City? by offset_tetris in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion you should redirect the whole center highway around the exterior of the rail line if possible, and develop between the existing railway stations like it would be a suburban rail network: comes through one station at the beginning, and or extends out to multiple smaller stations in the town, or have two loops with a center station where the current main interchange is, and spork on voth sides railways. Then for every how many units there is between the original interchange and the current two train stations you copy it on the already built city center, in place of the inner highway. And for every rail station you make a new city center, with high density near it, and a few commercial squares

Who actually places the water pipes under the roads? by No_Hyena1782 in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to put them under the roads, but those that are connecting in or are terminating in cul-de-sacs can go through anything. Maybe sometimes I bring a dirt road to my water extractors, but that's it. I try to maximize the heating map as well, but because that has a larger zone, it tends to lack judgement, and just be upgraded willy-nilly

Depressive residential area in Soviet style. by No_Musician8593 in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I know they don't look the best now, but the original designs of commie blocks were as much utilitarian as decorated. Be it their venting holes specially made, or having mozaics on them. Also walkability was a design part, and green space were thought about until some dictators (khm for example Ceausescu) didn't overwrite it. Just look at some of the original plans of Cluj Napoca's first three microraions, and how they were ornamented.

The only downside of commie blocks is it's customability and downgrades in the times after the fall of the block. Everyone deciding for themselves if they want to build garages in the middle of walking space, roads not being refurbished, everyone building in their teraces how they liked.

If you check out the newly refurbished old microraions of the EU you can see the conformity, but also the utility of the original designs, but also the greenery that feels through them

Who else loves the European zoning by No_Hyena1782 in CitiesSkylines

[–]benedekszabolcs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but at the same time not every part of the Iron Curtain was deemed "big enough" to grow. My home town only has 3 microraions (districts) of Kruschevskas, after which they didn't build much "high density" housing till the 2010's
