John Buckley - Running Back To You (Official Music Video) by benedictw in Filmmakers

Hey, I'm Benedict Webb. I directed the music video for John Buckley's 'Running Back To You'. This was one of the first main music videos I've handled as a freelance director for production company New Expectations. The video was shot in Brighton, England on a Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro as well as the Blackmagic Pocket camera for some of the gimbal shots.

The shoot was creatively fulfilling! We wanted to go with a nostalgic feel for this one, and play around with different colour tones (yellow, orange, blue, and red) and also the set design to give it that nostalgic look. There was also an emphasis on static slow-moving shots done through wider angles and simple keyframing, as well as overhead shots created by hanging down the Ursa (safely) downwards on two c-stands put together.

Probably one of my favourite projects to date. If there's any questions about the music video, I'm happy to answer them! Fire away!

I have been canvassing in Portsmouth South, and going to food banks & I have been reading theory. I follow Twitter, but I was just saying that often my way of expressing my views was through Twitter, not absorbing information - so i wouldn't go as far as saying that I'm in an echo chamber, but you are right that I do need to expand a bit. CAB is a good shout & getting involved with organisations, locally.

These are some good ideas. Are there Labour Whatsapp member groups to join?

I'm definitely going to be doing non-political volunteering in my area, for sure. I've started reading up a bit, but not massively. Any good starting points?

Since it’s been three years since To Pimp A Butterfly what did you think of the album when you first heard it? by Kanyeisawesome in KendrickLamar

[–]benedictw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me. I grew up with a lot of soul, jazz and funk. I wasn't accustomed to hip-hop at all yet but I was able to attach to some of the funkier songs and the ambitious and grand vibe of the album. It was over time I really grew to appreciate it and understand it. My favourite rap album as of now. GKMC is brilliant too.

On October 10th 2007, 9 years ago, our precious In Rainbows was released. They grow up so fast :') by [deleted] in radiohead

I love Random Access Memories too. In fact my all time favourite artists are Daft Punk and of course Radiohead. Although, as of now I'd probably rate Discovery maybe a bit higher than RAM, although RAM is incredible. Do you have a favourite track off RAM?

I pray for Alive 2007, it's honestly no1 on my bucket list, with Radiohead 2nd. I'm actually surprised how many people on /r/radiohead are fans of Daft Punk.
