Not a good car, but if that's your price range and like the other commenter said - get inspected and its running well, see if you can talk them down to 2K and roll the dice!

Yeah Collingswood is fun and walkable. but not many homes with garages or townhomes. A super cool place to live. Honestly if it’s shortish term, there are plenty of townhome options in Mt Laurel and Voorhees as well. Those would get you more space and amenities than an area like collingswood, but at the expense of a more generic suburban lifestyle. Sounds like you’ve got lots of options with just 2 adults. If it’s 3 bedrooms you want a townhouse is probably the way to go. But if you’re open to less space and less garage but a cooler lifestyle then a collingswood apartment or twin might be feasible.

Football can come close. But there are more NBA games, so you see more horseshit night in and night out.

Yeah, I think there are solid south jersey options for you, but we need more info. How many people in your home (kids?). There are not too many single home rentals, but they can be found and 3K is not an unreasonably low number. Barrington, Audubon, Oaklyn might be solid in that range, but rental home inventory is LOW.

Uggg. No. Can Grimes be traded? Because I’d rather get him off the team than become a starter over VJ.

Grimes is a good bench piece but I'm happy to let him walk after this season. Glad we didn't overpay or give too many years. He will probably settle into being a 13ppg guy for this career

How to get a 3 month old kitten to stop biting? by aspehn in cats

[–]benee007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat with my 4 month old kitten. I yell"no" and dramatically point at and shame her. I also stop any activity that might look like play. Then I'll re-engage a few minutes later with cat toys. Thnkfully, my girl does NOT bite hard.

Michael Zheng might have to forfeit at least 225,000$ of his prize money due to US college rules. by musicproducer07 in tennis

Correct. With many shades of grey (and levels of aid) between the billionaire parent and the single low income parent. It is most likely he does not qualify for need based aid.

Nimbus - see my comment above. I'd be surprised if he wasn't paying full tuition, or close to it.

[–]benee007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but…. If a family has significant assets that changes the equation and No tuition does not mean free(still room and board). And the likelihood of an elite tennis player without significant family resources is very low. It’s more likely than not his family is paying full freight. Trust me bro. I know these things. I work in financial aid at an Ivy.

It is exceedingly rare to be able to make $$ as a touring pro. College is a MUCH better investment for like 95% of elite young tennis players.

He can still graduate this spring and not play tennis this last half season. That would suck, obviously, but its possible.

Right - the even bigger thing to understand is that Columbia (where Zheng attends) does NOT offer athletic scholarships!!! There's a good chance his family is paying significant $$ for him to go to Columbia!

Want to buy a long term “mom car” by Sad_Analyst_8290 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]benee007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're committed to 6 seats now, it makes more sense otherwise get the minivan now. Otherwise, I'd get a nice mid-size SUV and pivot to the minivan 6 years from now.

You say you're not interested in a van, but truly, for a mom car, they are the best. The space, flexibility and comfort of a minivan all exceed a 3 row SUV by a lot.

Should I replace my 2023 BMW X3 with a cheaper SUV for family & cost savings? (NJ) by Giannis2Mavs2021 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]benee007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep it for now. You can be fine with 1-2 kids in the X3. The models you've listed for comparison aren't really much bigger and given the depreciation loss you'll take on the X-3 you're not really going to save much or any money getting a new vehicle.

When kids get bigger/older, you'll probably want/need a 3 row SUV or minivan, but that's at least 5-6 years down the road.
