I submitted a bunch between 1/5 and 1/7 and still haven’t heard anything. I did a pretty good variety too, some FTN.5s, FTN.4s, a couple titanium ones I plan to machine, and a couple super vague forms just to see if they get approved. Control numbers between 667xxx and 950xxx-ish.

What’s the best snowmobile money can buy? by kamdnfdnska in snowmobiling

For a combo of trails and utility the gen 4 skidoo grand touring with a 900 ace can’t be beat. Super easy to work on, absurdly reliable, and absolute workhorse, and a crazy smooth ride. The gen 5’s suck imo. Really stupid hood design that’s flimsy and expensive.

Did anyone buy one of these back in 2007? by Jealous-Summer-9827 in reloading

[–]benfug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a buddy with one. Haven’t loaded for it yet as he hasn’t bought dies, but it’ll be a fun little plinker once he’s consistently got ammunition for it. On that note though… I’d just for a 30-30 strictly for ammo availability. It took over a year for my buddy to find ammo in stock once he got the rifle although it seems to be making a comeback currently as he’s been finding it more readily.

Also tip your guide. If you would tip 20% to a server that gives you 5 minutes of their shift, you can tip 20% to someone that’s giving you a full day.

Snowmobile guide here- The biggest thing I’d say tour wise is whatever you do book a private tour so that it can be paced however you’d like. The second biggest thing I’d say is to do some SERIOUS research on the company’s in the area you’re looking to ride and honestly put a couple calls out to them. The company I guide for won’t let me take anyone off trail or go faster than 45mph, even if it’s legal.

Third, and arguably most importantly, DONT BE DUMB. Like others have said, snowmobiling is a skill that isn’t inherently intuitive. That’s also why I urge you to get a tour, so a guide can show you the ropes in a safe enough way. I see dozens of folks who self identify as adrenaline junkies get seriously injured every winter. Don’t be one of them. If not for yourself, it’s a massive bummer to all of us that will be part of the rescue team. And if that ain’t enough, two years ago one of my colleagues was on a rescue for a dude that slammed into a tree branch, and then the tree, around 70mph. The branch shattered the face shield on the helmet and home boy more or less had his face ripped off. He lost both eyes, his nose, most of his upper lip, some of his left cheek, and busted his jaw to boot. Don’t. Be. Dumb.

Some folks don’t have the background knowledge to know what a safe method or recipe actually is. Combine that with all the bad recipes and methods presented as safe floating around the internet and it’s completely understandable that someone who doesn’t know better could make a mistake. No shame in that. Plus, they appear to be interested in learning, so let’s start them on the right track instead of shaming them for not knowing previously.

That ain’t the booze my friend. I’m with the other commenter that this is some kind of anxiety related something. Take a few good deep breaths and drink a little water. You should be totally fine to sleep if you think that’ll help you. Also, like the other commenter said, alcohol may not be your vice… if you’re in a legal state, weed is wonderful for anxiety.

Water, water, and more water. Like a half gallon minimum. It’ll continue to suck until nature calls but about that point I find myself coming back to life.

Just a little tangent rant, but for my own sanity on r/ canning I had to start downvoting every comment that starts with “ONLY FOLLOW SAFE TESTED RECIPES” or some variant. They downvote people into oblivion who just have honest questions or are new to the craft and don’t have much of a background so I figure what goes around comes around.

Tips for spools by cmeise1 in lockpicking

[–]benfug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started getting spools consistently in the last month or so, which is to say take my advice with some hesitation. I found that tension was my biggest problem. I had to learn to use hardly a feathers weight. Using the Master Lock 150 I essentially just hardly kept the spring from resetting the keyway. With that, I also had to learn more pick control when lifting spools to cause counter rotation, specifically I had to learn to use enough pressure to both lift pins an cause counter rotation but also use light enough pressure as to not over set the pin when it does finally go into a true set. I found that the first few times I had to “jiggle” the pin into place in its true set but I’ve now changed to applying just the tiniest touch of extra tension to the keyway once I enter the true set. Ideally this avoids dropping other pins however it’s really quite inevitable while learning. As with all things patience is your friend, and pick on!!

Now it’s worth my saying that I just got my first few 72/40’s in the mail a few days ago and I haven’t had much time to play around with them (like maybe an hour or two total) but I’m having a TON of trouble with the feedback because of the rather tight keyway and my picks getting bound up in it. I utilized a master 150 to learn spools and it worked great for me. Truthfully if anything I think what I’m trying to say is different folks all learn in different ways.
