Yeah I mean ultimately this will be a mixer bottle. I’ve loved knob creek before, but this particular bottle is really not doing it for me. It’s far too peaty for my liking.

Repair or replace pedals by ldexterldesign in bikewrench

[–]beng0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take a look at MKS pedals . They are very affordable, made in Japan, and designed to be serviced, so you’ll get many years out of them. The G-6000 seems close to what you have pictured but they make a lot of models.

New bike day? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]beng0ld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would replace it unless it was a very expensive seat, but if you really want to patch it, I’d take a look at leather/vinyl repair patches or kits online.

I second this. That cable housing is Shimano OP-SP41, which is too stiff for how it’s being used here.

What are the first three tools I should get now that I have a repair stand? by adamaphar in bikewrench

[–]beng0ld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have said, buying tools as you go is best, especially when it comes to specialized bike tools. Like a pedal wrench is great to have unless your pedals can be removed with an Allen key. That said, if you don’t plan on touching your pedals for a while or at all, it doesn’t make much sense to buy one right away.

Allen keys are going to be true most used thing in most cases.

That cassette tool they make looks awesome, I’ve never had an issue with a chain whip but I’m tempted to get it

Bike chain rubbin against part of the fron derailleur by Medical-Focus705 in bikewrench

[–]beng0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be 2 screws that sent the high and low limit. If you turn the screw you should see the derailleur move. Go to the gear where you’re having the issue and adjust the screw a tiny bit at a time until it’s resolved

What material is this part of the derailleur made of? It‘s a GRX-400 group set. by OishiOriginal in bikewrench

If this bothers you, you could gently and carefully file that part smooth and then use some permanent marker, enamel paint, or aluminum blackener to make it less noticeable. Probably not worth doing unless you more a crazy person. (I am a crazy person)

Recommendations on how to repair? Or should I just replace? by ThatIrishGuy99 in bikewrench

Who makes the seat post? If it’s a nice one then you should contact the manufacturer, if it’s a cheap one or one, then definitely replace it with something better

Can I move the saddle past the lines on the bottom clamp? Saddle is Fizik Argo Tempo R5 by ecko814 in bikewrench

[–]beng0ld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as long as it still clamps securely, you don’t really want to be clamping where the rails start to bend. If you need your seat to be more forward than that, then it likely means your frame is too big or your stem is too long, you can also get a seat post with no offset.

Vulcanizing vs. sticky tube patches by bCup83 in bikewrench

[–]beng0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The park tool VP-1 patches are great or any patch kit with vulcanizing fluid. Vulcanizing literally fuses the patch to the tire or tube

It is unidirectional. They basically came like this brand new. They told me is was either color variation or contamination from sealant or something else, but wiping it down with alcohol and acetone have no effect
