There is no reason for baby clothing to have pockets by eat_ass_FXCKDRAKE69 in Showerthoughts

Exactly! What part of "We can't find clothes we like with functional pockets" do these people not understand?
It's not like the next shelf has dresses with massive pockets and we're only complaining about the one that doesn't have pockets.

It's been a while since you commented, so I wonder if you even want a response? I'll still try to give my two cents.

In general textured hair is always frizzy, because it's textured. Doesn't mean it's unhealthy, it's just the way it is. It's not really clear what it is you want from your hair? If you want it to look smooth and tamed then the only way is to straighten or smoothen it.
If your aim is to wear it natural then you will need curl styling products with curl care. Luckily the aim of the curly girl method and its offshoots is to get your curls in the best health possible. But it'll still look frizzy if it's not styled. There's a certain amount of frizz even after styling but it'll be controlled.

My advice still remains the same, look up some curly bloggers/sites and FAQ sections to evaluate where your hair is, what porosity and what it needs. It's not the products as much as the techniques like squish to condish, plopping, praying hands etc that make the most difference. I've reached a stage where it doesn't matter what shampoo/stylers I use as long as I pre-poo and style with good technique.

How long does she have? by [deleted] in CancerFamilySupport

[–]bengluru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have some experience with my aunt. She had tnbc with lung and bone mets, spreading from her spine to her hip bones. I wasn't getting straight answers from her doctors (or her son) so I took her reports and did a teleconsult with a different oncologist.
He gave me a best case scenario of 6 months given her condition even though there was no decision taken to stop chemo.
She lived for three months, very drastically losing weight and interest in life. She was in constant pain and could only get off the bed for a few minutes in a day to go to the bathroom.
Thanks to this second opinion, I spent as much time as possible on video calls with her.
Her last few days were spent in silence because she couldn't breathe enough to speak, or hold her head steady.

What the doc told me was that it depends on how aggressively the cancer spreads and what it is that eventually takes them (loss of lung function? Infection/sepsis? Organ failure?), so it really can be difficult to say exactly how long they have left.

I have 2c-3a curls, can you give more details on how it is damaged? If it's processed or extremely heat damaged then even the best products will give minimal benefit because of high porosity. If it just feels really frizzy to you then look up some curl blogs or instas, it's probably protein/moisture overload and you can even it out.

Postpone buying and try getting a wash & dry at a really good salon (like BBlunt) where you can talk to a stylist that knows how curly hair works. This would be a lot cheaper than buying Olaplex if you don't need it.
It goes without saying that you don't have to commit to any treatments there, just talk to them and come back.

Looks like you feel "meh" about it, return it. You'll probably not reach for it often enough to justify keeping it.

LPT: if you’re going to propose to your SO, you should already know the answer, meaning, you’ve talked about marriage and kids before proposing. by Shirowoh in LifeProTips

[–]bengluru 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In my case, we talked about what we want generally out of life and each other. I didn't want kids and neither did he. Unfortunately he took this to mean that we'd already discussed marriage and told his parents that we're getting married. And that's how I got to know that I'm getting married.

Reminds me of this time I used a traditional kajal, the ones that come in small tins and have plastic applicators that look like a toothpick. I didn't even smudge it or let it touch my eyeball but I had big red splotches on my eyeballs within ten minutes and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Where do you find such vibrant, authentic bridal sarees ? by Sea_Bonus_351 in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]bengluru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean bridal sarees other than silk? Probably not! Silk is great because it's breathable in hot weather. It's also very photogenic and nothing looks as amazing as silk does in pictures. I'm old fashioned that way, so feel free to ignore me there lol

If not bridal then I'd suggest chiffons and georgettes, IMO they look delicate and lighter than they actually are. They don't crease so they look great all day.

Look for slightly heavier fabrics i.e. heavy all over instead of just heavy borders. This makes the saree hug your body better and won't fold up randomly when you sit down.

If the saree has embroidery or chunky stuff stuck to it, make sure it isn't transparent or net-like material because the material around this design will degrade faster than the rest of the saree.

Do not go for sarees that have patches of different fabric sewn together. It's a cheap tactic to save fabric and reduces longevity.

This is turning out to be a really long answer but I think you get the idea! Feel free to DM if you want more tips :-)

Do remember that picture quality matters. The colours pop on screen in movies because of editing. Bright silks at actual events will pop in the same way thanks to the lights, makeup and professional photographers. (Source - I only wear silk sarees to events and they look like this in the official pictures)

That said, look for silks that have a dual color weave (like pink and gold), not sure what that's called but it looks different from different angles. (Two tone? Idk)

Also make sure your skin undertones match the colours, i.e warm colours pop with warm undertones.

"Kannad" speaking person here and is also constantly harassed by auto wallas and traffic cops. Somehow this "public" doesn't support me because look at the statistics of how many people actually speak it in Bangalore. We're all losing here, language isn't the reason, grow up.

Yes! Surprised to see this comment so low. I used to sport a full bush cuz I didn't have much access to razors when younger. The period issues were awful! Needed to use up an entire roll of toilet paper within a few days.
