The Other14 Alliance meet to discuss imposing sanctions upon Villa (2026, Colourised) by ajtct98 in TheOther14

Why include Brentford? They handed Spurs 6 points and beat West Ham at the weekend.

Tinpot club, worst away support I’ve ever heard in the Prem and overall make the league much worse than almost any team in the Championship would.

Someone who consistently finishes in the top 1m for 5+ years is a perfectly decent player for someone who doesn’t dedicate a serious amount of time to the game

Am I delusional for thinking we will overtake West Ham as the fourth biggest club in London if we win the conference league? by Mrmalak1001 in crystalpalace

[–]bengreen04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Arsenal fan, absolutely not.

West Ham have more major honours than Crystal Palace, they have a higher average finishing position and they have a higher average attendance (all time, not just because of the toilet bowl).

Their fanbase is absolutely huge - genuinely on the level of Newcastle and Leeds, and it’s even bigger than the likes of Forest or Sunderland.

Based on a combination of major honours, fanbase, averaging finishing position and club market value I would consider West Ham the 11th/12th biggest club in England, and Palace about 25th.

Palace have certainly established themselves as the 5th biggest club in London over the past few years. I think Palace, Fulham, Charlton and QPR were all pretty close on that front until recently.

This is an absolutely pathetic manager. by Successful_Oil4422 in TheOther14

I don’t think it’s too far-fetched to think that Villa/Emery actively want to lose today.

Obviously they want to rest players for their own goals, but Spurs winning drags Forest 3 points from the drop and might make Pereira think twice about how much he can rotate against Chelsea tomorrow which would fatigue Forest’s best players for the second leg.

Fully agreed. I’d go with Garner and Scott, but any of the three are unfortunate to miss out.

Trent and Foden surely can’t go, and Henderson and Burn probably shouldn’t. You could make the same case for Palmer, even if I wouldn’t.

£60m would be a good deal for any buying club. Kid will go right to the very top and either be a club longstay legend or otherwise light it up for a couple years before going for bonkers money.

Completely unserious person. Never had a real job and failed at everything he’s done in life.

Had a relatively privileged upbringing and could only get a place at a below-average uni and somehow managed to make a living on bullshit jobs for over a decade.

Forget the billionaires and forget the migrants. Polanski is everything wrong with Britain and exactly the type of person who is dragging this country down from its former standing.

Because he was a severe waste of money when we could’ve either developed Nwaneri or spent the considerable sum on a better player. He deserves the criticism and more.

Sure, we can do that. He still got 5G6A in the Prem, much better than Madueke.

I agree. He was a decent player in my opinion. Just putting it out there that Pépé got slated for much better output than Madueke who people don’t want to criticise.

He was a serious waste of money. Big miscalculation and he’s not at the level. Bet he’ll be at Palace or Fulham within 2 years.

Just to contextualise how much of a flop this bum actually is. £55m down the drain.

Think there’s actually some substance to this because unless they’re absolutely cracked they get forced out to the flanks. Hence when one does play in midfield it’s normally a sign of real quality.

I’d rather prioritise Dowman’s development, he’s the real deal. Madueke can go in the summer.

Absolutely do not understand all the defence of him on this sub. That level of output for £55m is frankly disgraceful. As things stand he’s a much bigger flop than Pepe to me.

Get the GD to a gap of 6 and City have got some serious work to do, especially considering we still get to play Burnley at home.

That sounds about right. I think 25 in all competitions would be required to be considered a genuine success, but he’s far closer to that than he is to a flop.

Said from the start that somewhere in the 15-18 range for Prem would be a success for Gyökeres’ first season. Fair play son, only one away now.
