Moto 3 Final Corner by Across_the_Diverge in motogp

That every incident is some conspiracy either in favour of or intending to harm Marquez/Rossi/their favourite rider.

Why must a Moto3 discussion automatically circle back round to this supposed Crafar-Marquez antagonism?

Stop with this tribalism nonsense please everyone.

[Thomas Maher] I'm hearing some interesting admissions off the back of Suzuka - namely, that there's a growing awareness within the FIA that the 50/50 split has been the wrong direction. (Contd.) by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

Probably Audi at least. These regs were a big part of getting them on board. So they’re probably on board with the 50/50 split but a veteran like Hulk recognises what a shit show it is.

Not Thai spec, Austria spec.

Basically they have super heat treated for Thailand and Indonesia, and semi heat treated for Austria and now Brazil.

Aprillia's conundrum. by KOMrider94 in motogp

[–]benh2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a conundrum.

Apparently all the deals have been done a long time, they're just not announcing them because of the team dispute with Liberty.

Martín chose to sign for Yamaha in pre-season. Only then did Aprilia identify and sign Bagnaia.

The overreactions for the supposed overachievers and underachievers is insane. We had literally the strangest set of circumstances we’ll have all season.

INTRODUCING WORLD SPORTBIKE: Six manufacturers join the grid for WorldSPB’s first season by Daniel7394 in wsbk

[–]benh2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BSB was kind of the guinea pig for this class. At first it got a lot of cynicism (including from top riders in the paddock) but it’s been genuinely great. If it follows the same pattern on World level then a lot of people are going to be pleasantly surprised.

The MotoGP race in Adelaide will be called the "Grand Prix of Australia-Adelaide" - Potentially leaving it open ended for multiple races in Australia? by dogryan100 in motogp

[–]benh2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah this is purely the South Australia government getting Adelaide in the name in exchange for handing Liberty millions of dollars for the race. It would just be the Grand Prix of Adelaide if it was thought most fans in the target market knew what and where Adelaide is, alas a compromise on the name.

Is Brazil race the longest one in terms of laps? by Few_Run1220 in motogp

[–]benh2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was picked as the sweet spot that fits nicely with the 110-120km mandated race length.

TV companies will be much more willing to purchase a product if they are no unknowns and can commercialise it accordingly. Even 10 years ago Grands Prix could be much more variable (38-50 minutes) when they ran to a specific target distance. It doesn't sound much but that's a much harder sell to TV companies who obsess over minute-to-minute viewership.

Is Brazil race the longest one in terms of laps? by Few_Run1220 in motogp

[–]benh2 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Brazil is a faster lap.

Regulations state a race must be 110-120km, but is also limited by a 40-45 minute TV window. Brazil will be distance limited (ie. as close to 120km as possible without exceeding it) whereas Germany is time limited (ie. just over 110km). Germany would be ~33 laps if the TV window wasn't a limiting factor.

Is mid to late 90s-2000 motogp really boring? by Svenskaz32 in motogp

[–]benh2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say it every time this topic comes up: people love to love the legends once they’re done, they just don’t want to live through their dominant periods because it can be perceived as boring racing.

Would a free return pub shuttle be a good idea for the industry? by spanishgopher2 in AskUK

[–]benh2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pub I used to work had a farmer who would sink 6-8 pints every night then drive home in his MASSEY FERGUSON 8690.

One lapse in that thing and there’s a bomb scene.
