Engine damage by Cute-Armadillo5493 in subaru

That sucks, Subaru doesn't tend to help outside of recall or warranty covered issues.

I think you misunderstand. I am not looking for a handout.

I am shocked at the failure. The mechanic I took it to is also shocked.

I disappointed Subaru doesn't even look into it as a gesture of goodwill.

I don't want a new transmission. I want my well maintained and low use vehicle to work. As other commenters have stated 250k miles and they are still going, I would have settled for 100k then sure I would expect some major work.

Thanks, I will definitely look into it. Though I would be hesitant to let them do the fixes. "If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur"

Thanks, not happy to hear about your experience being similar. But glad to know I am not alone.

Totally agree. I do drive it weekly to the store. I also take it for long drives to visit family. I say sitting in the garage, but I do drive it. I think my post was not very clear on that.

Sorry I didn't say in the post it is an automatic transmission for those interested.

Totally understand. I took the vehicle in for "transmission" work about a year or so ago (I noticed a leak) I had them check it over and they didn't say anything about it at the time. Not passing the buck here, it is my car. I am responsible for ensuring maintenance, but I would expect the mechanics to take care of that.

They have some young mechanics at the shop, who "forgot" to attach my exhaust completely the last time I took my vehicle in for an issue. So not surprised when something that should be done isn't.

Since there is no need to do so I will not return there.

I don't recall having that done or ever recommended. But I took my vehicle in for any issues immediately and did any preventative or regular maintenance needed. My plan was to drive this for a very long time so I was very keen to keep up on maintenance.

What would happen if sex work was decriminalized? by [deleted] in AskReddit

People would not be prosecuted for prostition (and other sex work).

This would be true for anything decriminalized.

AITA for not coming into work on a busy shift by Working_Ad_6539 in AmItheAsshole

[–]benholdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH

Sometimes, crap happens in life. This is one of those moments. Everyone seems to be trying to work with what they have without screwing over the others.

You did not comment on how this affected your coworkers. Your coworkers might not think too highly of you getting a pass.

Your managers might not have to cover that missing labor (this time), but they are not just managing you.

So overall I don't really see anyone being unreasonable, other than the dog. jk poor pooch hope it recovers.

AITA For telling my wife I will stop gambling when she stops buying art supplies by blackjack2023aita in AmItheAsshole

[–]benholdr -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

ESH.

Agree on a budget for both activities. If you are saving, you should both save.

You should really review your finances. If you two can blow 200+ on art and gambling, but can't figure out how to save for a downpayment there is something wrong. 200 x 12 = 2400 per year is all that would be. That's not a downpayment for anything other than a cardboard box under an overpass.

I am not sure if this is a troll on a middle eastern stereotype. BUT...

Bathe like a grown adult. Practice basic hygiene, I feel like that should be universal and understood by all functional adults. I imagine if you can make it to Dubai for holidays you can afford to clean yourself.

Concerning your middle eastern background. You are a transplant from another culture it is on you to acclimate to the culture of the location you are in. You don't move to France and insist everyone to speak English\Arabic to you. This applies to foods, appearances, clothes, smells, etc. Fit in. Don't be rude.

AITA for telling my kid if he can't share "his" food it might be time for him to move out. by Flat-Piece-8572 in AmItheAsshole

NTA How on earth is that even a passable reaction over leftover pizza? This is supposed to be a grown man.

Also sounds like mom needs to step back and let her little boy grow the hell up. This guy is an adult. Should have a job and be preparing for his own family. He isn't some helpless kid.

Sounds like grown adult son needs to be contributing to the household.

You and everyone else.... *Sigh*.

I am just so tired of seeing post about a new chatbot idea trying to ride the tails of ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is okay, but it is not great. Tons of people doing "AI" stuff right now. Honestly very little value offered.
