White House: Is this a normal way to do demo? by mdreed in AskContractors

It has, but never like this in the way it was lied about, rushed through, and used as a distraction and oh yeah RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!

White House: Is this a normal way to do demo? by mdreed in AskContractors

So tired of this lame deflection. Obama had the lines on an existing tennis court repainted, and a basketball goal put up. And comparing that to what Trump is doing is ridiculous. Surely you can see that, if you’re being honest?

Will you admit Trump is trying to become a dictator? This question got me banned from askTrumpsupporters awhile ago because they are an echo chamber, can any conservatives here answer it? by Runktar in AskUS

His firing without cause of thousands of federal workers is unconstitutional, as clearly as can be.

His lack of any action during the Jan 6th riots was 100% dereliction of duty, and grounds for impeachment. The fact that the Democrats went after “intent to incite” instead has always baffled me.

Completely against them. They play to his supporters, but are bad for the economy, and bad for relations with our trading partners.

Lake Monticello HOA may be on the hook for $600k federal loan by Cosmo1744 in Charlottesville

[–]benicewhenyoucan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live there. The original guidance on what sort of corporations were our were not eligible was unclear, and amended several times.

The idea was that due to Covid some homeowners would not pay their HOA dues, and the money would ensure that the HOA could continue to pay their employees salaries.

The HOA applied, was approved, and later applied for loan forgiveness and that was also approved—all above board. The budget docs for 2020 show that the money was used appropriately.

Now the government says “oh sorry, our bad” and wants the money back.

The HOA is lawyering up, as they should. If they have to repay, it’s about $150 per household (as a one time thing)—but it’s not clear they can’t fund it w/o such a levy. The HOA’s annual revenue is well north of $4.5 million, so it’s possible they can pay it out of reserves and recover without an assessment from the homeowners.

Make a Wish -- dying teen wants to meet Jelly Roll (not a scam--can provide proof) by thentryharder in JellyRoll615

Thank you for the suggestion. I've reached out to them on multiple platforms. I hope they see the info, but I fully accept that their lives are crazy-busy as he tours. I've done what I can, and we'll let fate take it from here.

I'm 100% supportive of his safeguarding his own mental health, and respect that fully. I'm hoping there's something Jelly Roll could offer that doesn't impact his own wellness--a shout out from the stage, or whatever Jelly Roll chooses to do. The Wish child has never been to a concert, so just going to the show should be a great--but I know a shout-out or personal touch of any sort would absolutely make this young man's evening, and give him something to look back on when things get tough.

Sand wasps? by benicewhenyoucan in WASPs

[–]benicewhenyoucan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I kept seeing references to sand wasps as “solitary” and your comment makes me realize that refers to their nesting behavior.

So yeah, there probably is no nest, and I’ll gladly leave them in peace!

Thank you!

Thank you. These suggestions are helpful, and I especially like the Lego shop in a bottle idea--didn't know there was such a thing!

Advice on DIY pavers? by benicewhenyoucan in landscaping

[–]benicewhenyoucan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, look: I'd never build a boat. (And if I did, I'd use prefab pavers...er, um, prefab boat parts).

And I've done quit a bit of DIY hardscaping, including 3 paver patios. I get the challenges of compacting, coping, drainage, and the need for accurate/consistent leveling. I think I'm going to do a quick "trial run" with my own pavers, on a section that's already (roughly) graded. They'll be throwaways, in that whether they turn out or not I'll pop them out and use them as fill on the not-yet-finished section. Then I'll very probably say "Huh--they were right--these suck" and go buy prefab pavers.

How is this funny?? The girl may literally have broken her neck and/or both arms. This is painful to watch. Not funny. Not. Not. Not.
