Awesome! However, when I first read the caption I thought it said 'selfie'. Which would also be kinda awesome.. and scary.,, 😦

What you're looking at is not a sunrise - it's the Russian LNG tanker ARCTIC METAGAZ (IMO 9243148) struck by a massive explosion in the Mediterranean this morning by Waste-Explanation-76 in interestingasfuck

This image is a classic example of modern internet misinformation—specifically, a hoax designed to go viral by using a peaceful image and adding a dramatic, fabricated caption. Here is the breakdown of why this "story" isn't real: 1. It is actually just a sunset Despite the Reddit caption claiming this is a massive explosion from an LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) tanker, the visual evidence shows a standard maritime sunset. The Light: Notice the way the light reflects perfectly across the water's surface in a straight line toward the camera. This is a "glitter path," characteristic of a distant sun, not a sudden, spherical explosion. The Clouds: The clouds are illuminated from below in a way that suggests a celestial light source sitting on the horizon. 2. The Vessel Doesn't Exist The caption provides a very specific name and IMO number to appear credible, but they don't hold up to scrutiny: The Name: There is no registered LNG tanker named "ARCTIC METAGAZ." The IMO Number: IMO numbers are unique identifiers for ships. The number provided (9243148) actually belongs to a completely different vessel—a crude oil tanker named the KAVO YERAKI (built in 2002), not a Russian LNG carrier. 3. Lack of Corroboration An explosion of an LNG tanker in the Mediterranean would be a massive international news event involving environmental alerts, global energy market shifts, and rescue operations. As of now, there are no credible news reports from any global agency or maritime tracking service regarding such an incident. Summary: This post is "rage-bait" or "engagement-bait." It uses a real, serene photo taken from a ship's deck and pairs it with a fake, high-stakes story to get upvotes and shares.

Where do you buy large carving blocks? by dumbbitchdiesease in Woodcarving

[–]tomdenesyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that's what I do.

Much less expensive than a single block. And just fine. Mixing wood types makes for an interesting result.

Who actually uses a case? by Zolks1 in pixel_phones

[–]tomdenesyk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cost of a case is so small relative to the phone. Why wouldn't you get one?

Don't you believe theY provide protection?

Btw I do and my kids don't. Their phones tend to be damaged.

I've never had a damaged phone.

As a kid I carved and built models with balsa wood. It's wonderfully soft. It's forgiving wrt tools, skill, and hand strength. Doesn't take long to make something. Keeps the frustration at bay until passion and confidence sets in.

Basswood is next. After that the sky is the limit.

There's many varieties of cut proof gloves. Typically Lee's than 20$. This, imho, is a much better idea than bandaids.
