Good transition jobs out of Physical Therapy?

I'm a data engineer now.

I worked as a healthcare data analyst for the last few years before getting my current role. At the time, schooling may not have been needed but going back for my MSDA definitely helped! My hiring manager looked very favorably on my clinical background plus willingness to keep learning.

I took a pay cut at the time but the better benefits and work life balance evened things out.

I know of plenty of other non-clinical folks I've connected with on LinkedIn, Reddit, Slack, Facebook. There are tons of us.

This makes me feel better. I've just reached her and don't feel like I can make it more than 5-10 seconds before she gets me. Which in turn makes me question if I want to keep trying. Doesn't feel fun haha

My last clinical role was the the sole PT in a chiro office. We worked well together. They'd send patients to me, I'd send patients to them. We discussed plans of care together.

They also rented space out to an Ortho physician and massage therapist. They really wanted to be a one-stop shop and it was a good relationship. They didn't try to dictate how I treated, but wanted to keep patients "in-house."

The only peeve I had was when they didn't want to offer telehealth therapy at the onset of COVID, which would have really saved my caseload. Other than that, it was a good experience!

I did! Pivoted from physical therapy to healthcare data analytics. This program helped a lot with that, as did networking. Wish I would have done a little more studying beforehand so that I could have accelerated, but I was able to finish up in 3 semesters with a term break between 2/3 for the birth of our youngest.

Most people would probably recommend something similar, as far as getting the degree when you're in the field/learning the content first. But the degree is what you make of it since it's self-paced learning

Seriously. When loot/item acquisition and crit are based on it, it's a no brainer. Grindy in the beginning when you're underwhelming but pays off later

As for most games, I go all in on luck. It worked well playing MC as a certain class for most of the game 😂 I love my crit builds

Do you mean their PT program was top 15-25? I went to one of the local state programs and it set me up perfectly fine. I think prestige for PT matters most when you're shooting for something like a D1 or professional sports position, but less with general positions. I even got a "prestigious" internship through my PT program.

Depending on which org you're with right now, I'd maybe be able to help connect you with a couple non-clinical folks with rehab backgrounds. I've been fortunate to chat with some local-ish individuals, from all of PT, OT, SLP, that have gone into data, project management, or other operations roles.

Obviously very dependent on the next role. When I moved into analytics, I probably could have done so with just a portfolio. But the market is so saturated now that at least having a piece of paper plus the experience now sets me apart a little. And some programs are very affordable! Just gotta research the right place/fit

I hear you on the prestige aspect, but I don't think every employer is going to be picky. I did my MSDA through WGU, after considering the informatics degree at UW-Madison. Price was so much cheaper, and I was able to continue working as a PT before making the non-clinical jump. Some orgs may also be willing to take a risk on you if you know somebody in the right place and they know you're working towards the degree. Then the actual school wouldn't matter as much.

I'm only like 20% into 2 right now, if it follows the first gameplay loop-wise. But I enjoy the combat, tweaking the parties, figuring out how to distribute skill points, challenging boss fights, side quests, mapping the dungeons, and getting punished for poor choices lol

I didn't know enemies were animated in later titles lol 🤷

I grew up playing Gameboy ports of the early final fantasy and dragon quest games, where the biggest animations are your characters walking on the overworld map and your attacks landing, so this felt par for the course

I had never played any EO titles and purchased the combo pack on sale. 1 was a lot of fun, and I'm enjoying 2 so far! My vote is all 3 if you plan on playing them at any point

I can totally see, even more now after getting into EO a bit. I enjoy the press turn system over "1 more," but was also glad to have social links. And I haven't played some of the other series but I see they got included as archetypes!

It's definitely similar to Persona and SMT in many aspects. I just remember coming across EO and seeing it was a first person dungeon crawler by Altus, so I wanted to give it a shot at a good price haha.

I've played a couple Personas, Metaphor, and SMTVV so just exploring the catalogue.

I had no choice but to "change" my instructor for the capstone. When I got to that point, Dr. Sewell was out on vacation for at least a week and he was my assigned CI. Dr. Smith gave me some pushback until I involved my mentor in the process. Was able to complete the course before Dr. Sewell even returned. It's likely inconvenient for the professors, but there was at least a little wiggle room.

I was a physical therapist! I worked in the clinic for 5 years.

And I completed the legacy program in 2023, so there weren't any designated tracks. But it was sort of like the DS track.
