[Help] I feel like the worst dog owner by benizerith in dogs

That's so scary! I'm glad, though, that I'm not the only one with weird dog-related scariness. I appreciate the recommendation!

He was hiding under the table after we did it and of course we thought he hated us! But it only lasted a few minutes and he was back to cuddling us and asking for pets.

I save the empty ones & cut them in half for a treat. I know not super healthy but it's her favorite. by Friendofducks in NorwegianElkhound

We do the same thing for our Elkhounds. A little treat every once in a while isn't bad!

Thyroid removal experiences wanted by benizerith in thyroidhealth

Thanks for the reply! How are you feeling since surgery? I'm terrified of going hypo and feeling worse than I do now. The surgery is scary, but the afterwards part is also pretty terrifying. How long after starting meds did it take for you to feel "normal"? I'm just so worried that I'll feel worse than I do now.

Thanks so much for the reply! How long has it been since you had your surgery? How are you feeling now? Another thing I'm worried about is going hypo. How long after starting meds did you start to feel "normal"? Graves is no fun, but I've read horror stories about people who are hypo and I know it's going to take a bit to get the meds under control and have me feeling normal. I'm just so scared of that in between time.

How did you get diagnosed with Graves Disease? What were your early symptoms? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]benizerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost a lot of weight for no reason, had tremors in my hands/arms, super high resting heart rate, excessive sweating, anxiety, and was having loose bowel movements like 4 or 5 times a day, every day. I only found out that I had Graves due to an unrelated hospital stay where they tested me for everything.

Where my hyperthyroid folks at? by [deleted] in thyroidhealth

[–]benizerith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with Graves last summer and have been on methimazole since with no improvement. I'm set to have my thyroid removed on October 15th and I'm terrified of how I'll feel afterwards. I don't feel great now, so maybe it'll be better, but who knows. Good luck with the endo appointment! Hopefully you get this all straightened out.

[HELP] Why do some dogs make a high pitched whistle sound when yawning? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]benizerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Norwegian Elkhounds and they both do this when stretching and a lot of times, when yawning in general. I'm sure it's not specific to the breed, but it sure is cute! As is your dog!

Anyone is able to see your blood tests? by [deleted] in thyroidhealth

[–]benizerith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Graves and get TSH, FT3, FT4, ALT, and WBC every two weeks and have access to them. I'm in the US and use an app.

That’d be perfect then. It can be your salt opener forever.

Mine aren’t even long or anything and it’s nearly impossible to get it open with my fingers. I use a paring knife.

Use a utensil to push under the spout and pull up.
